i like the white down the middle and the solid both. i guess it depends on what and when! your truck looks a lot nicer than when you started for sure!

is 516 not referred to as Tangiers Orange?

516 had the sales name "Tangier Orange" as well as the earlier "Omaha Orange". But in the context of actual usage "ORANGE" will be the color's description on the SPID.

524 had the sales name "Firebolt Orange" but is more commonly known as "Hugger Orange" from its car line usage. On the SPID expect to see "RED ORANGE" or sometimes "HUGGER ORANGE".

I am pretty sure the truck in my avatar was RED ORANGE on the spid. either that or MED RED. for some reason i remember it being a color i hadn't heard of before. old brain i guess. that was to many years ago.

I've decided that K20's are my favorite truck. Here's yet another MT example and one in original paint...

For me,nothing is cooler than a ochre/white,ochre/white k20 super.

But your truck is a close second

Here's one that got away- I kinda miss it now. At least a board member got it. I think the GMC's look best as 4x4's. The metallic green really grew on me, and would be amazing new/repainted.

From the other pictures I have of that truck I believe its 506 Dark Olive poly. They tended to fade to that color.

Tim, I think you are correct unless GMC had a tad darker shade in 71. It may just be the sunlight making that chev look lighter. The spid was gone from the truck but all paint looked original.

Thank you guys. I just bought a 69 GMC that was originally med. olive with a white top but its been repainted a darker green and I like it. Wanted to know for when I repaint it, what color to ask for. Thanks again,

Wade

Like I said earlier I really think 506 is the color. The paint charts show 506 as being a Chevy only color in 71-72. But my 72 C1500 Highlander is coded "564 WHITE/DARK OLIVE".

This is my father-in-law's self built '72 Crew Cab Longhorn step side dually. It is a beautiful truck custom built to look stock as if it just rolled off the assembly line.

I just bought my first truck a '72 Longhorn with 60,000 original miles about to become a K/30 Longhorn conversion, I can't wait to get started and post some pics!
