Great work,
Nice Build, were getting down to the home stretch You have that good of weather to be out side painting, you are a lucky man. I have snow on the ground |
Re: 1969 C10 SWB Stepside - Big Block project
I have been wrapped up in home projects for the past couple weekend days. I am planning to work on my truck this coming weekend if the weather is decent. I need to roll it out of the garage and clean up the frame rails then we'll drop the BB back in.
Once it's back to ride height (or close) I'll take more pics. The next step is a CNotch and drop arms. The back is going lower. Stay tuned .. :metal: |

Feller, I admire you! Not only are you doing AWESOME work, you're doin it with your Dad. It brought a tear to my eye when your Dad commented a few post back about " You being his Best friend ". I am keeping an eye on this build & lovin the attention to detail " Your Way ". My Dad, really my step-father but raised me like his own, have been talkin about buildin his dream car together, a GTO. I'm lookin for just the right one & when I find it I'll be getting it as a surprize, kinda like askin Mother to get him away for the day, have it delivered to their garage, cover it up & let him find it with a sign on it sayin " Let's Git Er Done " when they get home from their outing. I'm doin a frame off build on my '69, well, my best friend is doin the biggest part, & I'm runnin a BBC/TH400. Keep up the Awesome work & keep them pictures a comin!!!

Thanks guys. As soon as the weather breaks we're going to really get going on the paint. Dad has been doing quite a bit of priming and first cut blocking (220) and the plan is to really start spraying some color by spring time. We'll be working on it on Sunday. I'll take some more pictures.

Talked to Nate last night and ordered a C notch kit, and the upper shock bar. I'm not sure where (how low) it will end up but I know I will need those two pieces at least. Just going for ride height right now.
So, I'll be grinding rivets in a couple weeks. :metal: Posted via Mobile Device |

A Couple pics from the weekend. We have the BB back in, and I put my wheels (just the fronts) back on to see how it would look at ride height. Keep in mind, we still have the core support, the weight of the water / coolant in the radiator, all the front sheet metal, battery, bumper, etc. At least a couple hundred pounds to add to the nose weight. It should come down another inch or so (?) Hard to say ..
I like the look so far. I am working on my front clip now. The front fender is not as far along as the door and rest of the cab. Just first stage primer / 220 block. It will look better once I get the inner fender in, etc. I'm pretty stoked about it. |

Re: 1969 C10 SWB Stepside - Big Block project
Does Nate offer UCA / LCA for the 73+ front end? Humm .. to bag, or not to bag .. :metal: Not laying frame, .. just on air.. Dang it's tempting.

Re: 1969 C10 SWB Stepside - Big Block project
Absolutely incredible. .. That truck is sexy man.
255/40/20 on the front ? Are your fronts 8" or 8.5 ? Maybe it's the 5.25" BS that's looking a little different. Mine are 5.5" BS, but 73+ suspension and 1.25" rotors. I gained about .5" trackwidth on either side. Mine will drop a little more once all the metal is on it. and my Dad and I sittin in it !! |
Re: 1969 C10 SWB Stepside - Big Block project
Awesome work! It's really coming back together!

Al -- I can't stop looking at your truck !!
I noticed you changed to regular side marker lights. Have you ever considered a cowl hood? I think it would look killer on your truck. It just has that 'look'. |

I love cowl hoods, I have a Tri-Plus one waiting in a box for me. Just have to finish the cab and doors lol.

Re: 1969 C10 SWB Stepside - Big Block project
I have one of the most solid 68 (with trim holes) hoods I have ever seen, and I found it leaning beside an old storage shed .. the lip is really, really clean. No kidding, 95%+ rust free hood. It has one small ding in the ridge of it but a little dolly work will get it out. If I hadn't found this one I would probably go with a Cowl hood too. I think I'll stick with the stock hood on mine. I have never seen one come out of the blaster this clean. It's in DP E-Coat right now just waiting on me. :D
