Re: my 64

thanks twiggy
ruffrida one of my dads buddies has a few of them
i have two power boxes i think im going to trade one of them for a manual box

joe231 07-16-2009 06:34 PM

Re: my 64

your gonna put a manual box on your truck???
do you know if it will bolt up to your frame, since it has been changed to a newer power steering frame section?

jgh64pkup 07-16-2009 06:48 PM

Re: my 64

does it i was told it would

joe231 07-16-2009 06:51 PM

Re: my 64

who told you that?

I'm not sure, I know a power box won't bolt up to the pre-power frame........

jgh64pkup 07-16-2009 07:16 PM

Re: my 64

i thought it was because it had an indention and an extra hole

joe231 07-16-2009 11:42 PM

Re: my 64

when I did the conversion on the '66 I used one existing hole and had to drill the rest, I think...it has been awhile

Re: my 64

What am I missing here? you still have the 64 frame right? and you want to run manual. What was changed in the front that the manual box wouldn't bolt up. Why is it you want to run a manual anyways. Power is the way to go.

joe231 07-17-2009 11:27 AM

Re: my 64

If you go back and look in his thread, he has a piece of frame grafted in from a 73-up where the gearbox goes.......

Re: my 64

what joe said and in a previous post i said
this truck is for going fast and ill save the comfort for later
if i ever want to change back to power steering i can
i have another steering box, the mount, about three pumps
all i would need is the lines

Re: my 64

remember to relax, most people are much better drivers when they do...or are you talking about the written?

we just picked up a drivers handbook for my oldest....he wants to get a motorcycle permit next year

jgh64pkup 07-17-2009 11:10 PM

Re: my 64

thanks joe for the encouragement but im taliking about the written
if it was actual driving i would be fine
i had an idea for the motorcycle thing
if i get my motorcycle license im going to find a 250 cc honda, yamaha, whatever with a good title
and im going to cut the vin number off find a harley 883 or 1200 sporster weld the vin number on that bike
take the block to the machine shop get them to machine the vin off and get them to etch the 250cc's vin number on then i can ride it
i think this could be be a tad illegal but what isnt nowdays

You'll do fine on the test. It's really a lot of common sense. You shouldn't have a problem! Good Luck
