Boy...if you're living through my build I better get busy huh? Thanks for checking out my build.

Thank you! Hopefully I can start picking up the pace a little :)

It wasn't an overly productive day. I did manage to clean a little more of the front axle, and I got the bushings ordered for the Shackle hangers. Next weekend is supposed to be nice, so hopefully I can lay some paint and attach some springs :)

Yesterday, I removed the rear bumper (which was a project in itself). I also fixed a mistake that I made. I'm almost too embarrassed to show this, but here it is :)

Well, not much in the way of progress. I did order the Advanced Adapters Torque Splitter for its overdrive. I figured it was the cheapest way to get overdrive :) I also ordered Eastwood's Extreme Chassis Black. Next week I hope to get moving on some things.

When you get and install the torque splitter for overdrive hope you post it as I am interested for my 71 4x4, would be a lot nicer for the highway.

I will definitely post my progress on this. Hopefully it will show up in two weeks :) I'm going to try and replace the shift lever with an electric solenoid so that I can simplify the shifting process

I'm actually surprised that I can't find many people on this board that have used this torque splitter.

Thanks! I'm hoping it turns out half as nice as yours!

I got an email today letting me know that my Ranger is back ordered and won't be shipping until the end of April :-(

Well, I was hoping that these pictures would show a painted frame today, but I didn't realize how much work it would be to clean up/smooth out a sandblasted frame.

I was hoping next weekend would work to get the paint on it, but it's supposed to be low 60's (compared to mid 80's this weekend). Oh well, progress is progress :)

Thank you! I appreciate the encouraging words. I'm hoping that one of these weekends will be nice enough so i can get this frame painted. On another note, my torque splitter is still on backorder.

I don't typically get out and work on the truck during the week, but I decided to give it a little (and I mean little) attention. I ran over the rails one more time with 180 grit and I think the rust encapsulator, and extreme chassis black will cover it well. I also removed the tranny crossmember to prepare to move it back once I get the splitter.

A little over $1300 for the unit, but when you consider it's just moving the cross member back 7 1/2 inches and changing the driveshaft lengths, I don't think it's too bad. The nice part about this unit over a GV unit is 1 - it's cheaper and 2 - it will still function in 4WD. I'm going to have to make a change to the shifting mechanism so that I can shift it from a switch on the existing gear shifter (like the big-rigs do) but other than that, I'm really thinking it's going to be an easier retro than trying to put a 5 spd in. I don't know...here's hoping

Yeah, it looks like it's a good idea, definitely cheaper. Does it have high low or just high?

It's a two speed of 1:1 and .78 IIRC. The only downside would be if you are running gobs of power it won't take it (over 400 hp I seem to remember). That should be fine in my case as I'm just planning on refreshing my 327.

I finally have some paint on this frame!!! I started with rolling the rust encapsulator on and decided that wasn't going to fly. After some research, I found and purchased the Preval spray "gun" as I didn't really want to go through all the mess of busting out the big gun on this. I am very pleased with how well that thing worked! I didn't have to thin out the encapsulator at all, it sprayed it very well right out of the can. When I do the top coat of my Extreme Chassis black, I will probably use a real gun but I think for this base it worked out great! I still have to flip the frame and do the bottom, and a couple of the cross members with the encapsulator then topcoat.
