I like it! Are you sure on the 70's vintage? I would've guessed 60's.

I would have too, but it was purchased around the late 70s by the looks of that ford in the background. The guy I bought it from tells me he used to go camping with his parents in it, and his dad just recently passed. It has been sitting g for the last few years now.

Do you know the weight of the camper? Generally, campers are too heavy for 1/2 tons, but luckily its the 8' model, which is considerably lighter than larger versions.

Re: Pictures of 1960-66 campers please

I don't know for sure. I'm gonna go get some tie anchors and take it to the scale sometime in the next few days. It actually doesn't "feel" that heavy when driving, but it definitely could use a rear sway bar

Yes, loving the truck! What kind of hat is the fisherman wearing? He looks like a trendy hipster from today. I guess those truck camper dudes were always waaay ahead of the curve. Ha!

To be honest, wasn't zooming in on the attire, but this '65 has the last of the 3 piece 15" wheels ( probably built in late '64 or early '65, replaced with 16" 2 piece in mid '65 ). Unforunately, seeing a vehicle like this today is a rareity, unless we are looking at oem4me's, Sodly's or 60-66's collection. By the way, I like the contrast between the white trim paint in molding and white caps, even on a lighter color like Fawn.

Love the campers. How rare is the 64-65 Custom Camper long bed step sides? I rarely see them.

Re: Pictures of 1960-66 campers please

There were no 64s, but a 65 long step custom camper would be very rare (65 was the first year, not many made, most commonly as fleetsides).

Tks Bill @ Solo Speed Shop

Had almost exact same one on my 65; the Gem Top and the bed of truck had electrolysis and ate the top of bed away! Needed a ground cable! Ended up having to buy replacement bed when I restored truck.

I like that too. It is cool how the roof of the canopy mimicks the cab roof.

Exactly right!
It'd be even cooler on a knee-knocker cab, as the angle of the back of the topper would mimic the angle of the knee-knocker's A-Piller
