So I'm almost embarrassed to post this, however, I had the Doors all assembled by the Body shop. I had gotten some sequencing advice from Hemi and was going to do it myself but ended up just getting them to do it. Reason I'm embarrassed is I work in Automotive manufacturing. I've put together thousands of Doors but that was many years ago.
I thought rather them than me scratch the door shoehorning the Vent assembly in. I mean the Paint booth is right there. Special shout out to forum member Roger Koop for a great job on the vent windows restoration. I used all NOS hinges, latches, strikers and handle relays. Stainless hardware on the Door latch and Glass channel, black zinc on the Striker hardware to match the Striker finish. Small progress pics but I know everyone (including me loves pictures). |
Re: tjs 72 Blazer Build
It was being colour sanded and buffed when I was there Friday. Comes home next week :metal:

In the over 6 years I've owned my Blazer I've never seen another 1st gen in my area. There is a couple of mid 70 square body Blazers in my area but nothing in the 69-72 range.
About 2 blocks from the body shop where mine is I pulled up beside this. Looks like it just got some new stuff put on it. The nerf bars / rock guards were still in plastic. |

Thanks for the compliment. It certainly can look red in some lighting and especially on a computer screen but it is painted in 524 Red Orange or "Hugger Orange". Cheers. |

Well I managed to get one thing done this past week.
Installed the Outer heater box and the Inner that mates to it. Took longer than I thought it would. Forgot I had to drop the inner fender a ways to get access to the lower secure point. |

Had it outside yesterday in the sunlight. I took some time to clean up some of the underside. It was a little dusty in spots on the Chassis from sitting in the body shop. They cleaned most of it up but I got a little anal and did the rest.
I snapped a bunch of pictures because it will never look this clean again ... |

I media blasted and repainted the inside vent / diffuser boxes. Not perfect but darn close to factory colour.

Jeff,
The Blazer looks amazing! Little bit jealous to tell you the truth. I saw you were asking about steering stabilizer brackets in another thread. After looking at a couple of mine it makes me wonder if most of them were aftermarket? I have two 71's and another set of brackets and all three are different. Looks as though they can still be purchased. Attached is a picture of my fairly unmolested 71 Blazer steering stabilizer. |

Re: tjs 72 Blazer Build
Guys thanks for the stabilizer pics. I dug out my brackets and hardware and I think I have everything I need. I might have to machine one part on a lathe but it will be easy.

Seatbelts back from restoration.
Torn down. Buckles rechromed, anchors replated, covers redyed, new webbing and OE matched stitching. They look awesome. I still have all my original webbing but I didn't transfer my date labels. They wouldn't have made it and I didn't bother getting reprints sewn on. Now I can get my rear bench seat back together and get the upholstery tails finished off on the covers. |
