As it is with that radiator... if I did that, they would only be about and inch deep... This radiator was just something the PO tossed in at some point and it didn't fit right anyway. Was too tall and not wide enough. I'm gonna look for a shorter radiator and then if I have to ill do something with the mounts. No need to do all that other stuff I said about the scoops... they will stay like they are and just get the opening cut into them.

Nice work. I was thinking about doing something like that to my hood.

I've already started the finish work on it... I'm just going to finish up and move on. I'm sure I will find something that works with it...

More pics of the good times... undoing work done the wrong way to redo it the right way... Probably should have done this part of the hood first before I started on the scoops...

That's a tough fix but it could be modified at this point. Just saying

This is the radiator that was in the truck when I got it... I know it was just tossed in there and half ass mounted, so I'm gonna be looking to see if I can find a shorter one that might give me the room I need to use this hood.. Since the scoops are so close to the support but I still have some room over top of the support, I'm thinking about connecting the front hood frame to the scoops (But not changing the over all appearance you see from out side) and creating an opening in front of the support to pull air from the grill area... This might still work after all....

Have the filler tube taken off the top and put a 90 out from the tank. Then sink the rad into the rad saddle. I've done this on an s10 v8 convertion

yeah, we'll end up doing something like that, but to a better fitting radiator than this one.. it wasnt right to start with.

More progress on the scoops... pretty close buts needs a little more work. Now that I shot a coat of primer on it I can see what needs done better.... and of coarse the holes still need cut. I'm having a hard time deciding what style I should go with...

Holes are cut... I'll clean them up and tack some screening behind all the way around the holes to help with strength.. but there is no flexing issue as I left some metal over and under the holes to start with.

You're making lemonade there man. My first thoughts were... then I saw the rot... now I'm seeing a pretty cool, custom hood. Well done!

When you said help on adding radius's i thought you just meant radiusing the corners but the way you built that ridge around the opening looks pretty nice.

Thanks.. what I ended up doing was using 3/8 round stock that i WAS going to weld on the underside and just radius the sides down, but got to thinking that would still be to dull and not finished looking... so on top it went and befor I kew it this is what was emerging.. I thinks its much more gooder :smoke:

Thank you sir... everything your body guy made look so easy takes me at least twice as long to do. I would be further along if I was home more than just 2 days a week too though... I just chip away at it until I have something worthy of a paint job. I haven't even touched the bed yet... its in pretty good shape but still needs a lot of work. Front and floor needs replaced (I think I'm gonna do something a little different with the floor) and the sides need some love to save.

I wish you would hurry up and bail yours out of paint jail, cant wait to see it!

Home again this weekend and the only new part waiting on me was a front shock lol... I screwed up on the last parts order and only ordered one so I had to put in an order for the other shock.

Gearing up for another big money order in the next week or two, but until then for the next couple weekends Ill be just be finishing up on the hood and maybe Ill stick the bed on so I can figure out where to mount the gas tank and where the fuel fill is gonna go and so on and so on...

I think I figured out what I'm going to do with that awkward notch I was left with when I mounted the visor lower than its supposed to be. Gonna channel a couple lights into them... A couple pieces of 1 1/4" OD pipe and a couple 1" LED lights will work just fine..

Didn't do much last weekend other than some sanding. I gotta get to the sheet metal shop to get a piece bent up for the front edge of the hood repairs, so i kicked her outside and did a "little" garage cleaning... meaning that i grabbed the blower and blew out a ton of dust :smoke:
