I all so don't mind doing wiring. (On these old trucks anyway) (Been installing a new fuse block in my station wagon (1971) and it's got a few more wires so it makes it a little harder to figure out)
I don't know if I would be willing to rewire a modern car....

Thanks, starting to take shape. Just need to clean it up just a little. I would never want to wire a modern car...especially with all the electronics in them.

If it would stop raining, I could get something done.

Got my LED bulbs in for the dash today...had to fire it up and take a picture. I got green LEDs except for the "BRIGHT" which I got in red....I love how it looks.

Welp, that green is making me reconsider my stance on my dash lights. Maybe I should get some green LEDs too. Yours look great!

Thanks! I really like how they look in my den! :D

The only downside is they are not dimmable, but unless they are super bright in the truck, I don't think I care.

The aftermarket tach I bought came with the green LED inside..that is why I chose green also...to match.

I bought them from https://www.superbrightleds.com/

The bulbs I bought were 6 green, and one red.

They also have white if you prefer. The red was just for the headlight "BRIGHT".

The LED's look really good Andy.
I would be tempted to put some in my truck but I would want to be able to dim them.(just my personal preference)
But they do look really good!

Andy...do you think the tach light could be changed?

I am not sure...maybe. I looked at it and there are some screws on the face. Maybe if those were removed you can get to it. However, it isn't obvious how to do it...no bulb holder or anything on the back.

Sanded down the bed header today and revealed a lot of the original color...I figured a lot of the white would come off, but not as much as it did. I love it! I did clear coat it, but can't tell in these pics.

Got my transmission bolted to the engine today...just waiting on my mid shifter to come in. They were on backorder from Speedway. Once that comes in, I will get it mounted and install the engine/trans in the truck!

Thanks Scott...Slow and steady...right? I really like the gauges, they will probably be the highlight of the interior.

rethinking my fuel lines. My EFI intake and return lines are -6 AN ... I think I am going to run Russell push lock lines and fittings.

I like that tank...I tend to like the side fills better. Soon you will have it up and running!!!!

Im old school and really like the AN fittings and braided lines. It reminds me of my racing days and more importantly I seemed to be able to handle them fairly well.

I agree with the side fill. I will use my truck as a truck and don't want to have to worry about the gas cap in the bed, even though it would be flush.

Yeah it is a nice tranny! I love manuals...especially in an old truck.

I have been reading as much as I can about fuel lines and AN fittings. I am just trying to calculate how much fuel line I am going to need for my rear gas tank. I think about 25 feet total including the return line.

kdad 05-23-2019 03:43 PM

Re: 1965 LWB Stepside Build

I bought an 18' piece along with a hand full of fittings and wound up with about a foot left over. that was just from the tank to the fuel pump... You are probably best to go with 25 feet and have plenty..

Haven't been able to do much lately....it's been so hot outside and I am waiting on a few parts that are backordered. However, late this afternoon, I started taking out the old seam sealer in the drip rail. Got about half finished...hopefully finish tomorrow and wire wheel the ditch, then POR 15 and prime...then put in the new seam sealer... It's not fun cleaning out 50 year old seam sealer.

Got the old seam sealer out and finally had a dry day to get the seam sealer in and primed and painted....Had to drill out all 4 drain holes...the PO either put bondo in them or they were clogged from 50 years...either way...drain holes should now help.
