Thanks guys, I still have alot of blocking left to do on the cab and haven't had much time lately so my timetable on getting some paint laid down has been pushed back again. At the rate I work, ill be lucky to have paint on this cab by the spring :waah: I'm not too concerned about it though, i've stopped driving myself crazy with a deadline to get the truck done. I now have the idea it will get done when it gets done as long as it is done right.

Hey Keith, love the progress. You will get it done all in good timing, rushing things always ends up messing something up anyways. I was curious about your paint scheme as I am going with red on mine as well. On the front end are you going to run trim across the front of the hood and on the front of the fenders, if not, where are you going to stop/start with the white red? I have already welded up the trim holes on my 68 fenders. Just wondering what your plans are.

This is probably the best way to do it. I know some guys need a deadline for motivation, so it would work for them, but you might be like me. I don't need the added pressure to rush through it and cut corners to have an end result that will produce regrets for not doing a better job before paint. I'm sure you'll be happier with the end result knowing you did the best you can, without rushing it.

Thanks, your right if I rush it I'm bound to mess it up and then I won't be happy with the final product. I plan on running the front trim and having the paint line under the trim so it covers it. That's how my truck was originally.

Yeah having the deadline was driving me nuts, like you said the added pressure to get it done within a given amount of time was mentally exhausting. I'm going on my 6th year and it's still not done so I decided to throw deadlines out the window. I'll be happy when it's finally done but only if it's done right and is exactly how I want it.

Thanks Jake, unfortunately the big block is leaving, I'm going to pick something up today to take it's place

Picked up the new power plant today, an LQ9 out of 2005 Escalade with 90k on the clock. It is a complete dropout, included everything front accessories, computer, uncut harness, maf, peddle etc. I couldn't pass it up, it is a very clean motor :metal::metal::metal: Doesn't look like much now but it will when I'm done with it.

Thanks Mark, the bar has been set high with these Red trucks on the forum I just don't want to disappoint ;) I'm not sure about the transmission yet. I want to run a 4L80E but im afraid with my dropmember it won't fit with the cab on. I already have a high hump but I know with the extreme dropmember the cab needs to be modified to fit, I'm just not sure about the Touring that I have. At this point in the build I really don't want to hack up the cab.

If I can fit the 4l80e then I'll definitely go with that, if not then it will probably get a built 4l70e and hope to god I don't grenade it. I'm not interested in cutting the cab up at this point to fit it. Your not going to have to try to hard to catch me, I have been spinning my wheels with bodywork for the past 2 know months.

Thanks Mike, your right I don't think I'll be disappointed. I just hope I don't get overwhelmed with the electronics. Good news for me is I can lean on all you guys that have already done this swap before. I'm sure I'll have questions.
