Re: so lets build a truck/my '52 chevy

an update-

I made some brackets to hold the alt and p/s pump different that stock. alt is dropped wayy down and the p/s pump is moved up and in. Just primer grey right now so I can make sure they will work without mods. You can also see the drilled and tapped p/s pump so I can run a -an feed line to it. I bought the fitting to covert the out to -an as well, but I bought the wrong size.

the final engine plan- finish these brackets and paint or powder coat them. Either clean the alt, but if it wont come clean I will paint it silver so it looks aluminum-ish. The power steering pump will get painted white/blue/silver, the alt pulley will get a new black paint job, the water pump pulley can hopefully be powdercoated back black, and Im hoping to do able to figure out something to do with the crank pulley. I will also sit with some brake cleaner and do a general clean on the block. I bought the bungs and cap to make the p/s resi, so I need to make that, mount it, and then plumb all the power steering up with braided -an and a solid polished stainless resi to pump line.

I wish I wasnt always under deadlines and I would have done all this while the truck was apart, owell.

anyways...

general belt layout, stock belt is way too long so its a bit loose right now. Also I didnt press on the p/s pump pulley yet.

http://i77.photobucket.com/albums/j5.../000_00141.jpg

http://i77.photobucket.com/albums/j5.../000_00151.jpg

and the new engine bay shot. minus a nasty alt hanging out...

http://i77.photobucket.com/albums/j5.../000_00161.jpg

and if everything works out to be perfect, I will redo that drivers side engine cover and finish the corner off since the alt wont be there anymore.

I dont, I guess I was stingy with the pics at that time of the build. It is just sheeted over most of the original though. I cut the original about 2/3 the way down the firewall and went from there.

Re: so lets build a truck/my '52 chevy

I thought about going with one of those one piece windshields from Ebay (item 230415715109) but at over $400 shipped, it would not want to run into any fit problems. Maybe 2 piece is the way I will go as well.

Good luck

Re: so lets build a truck/my '52 chevy

this is my second glue down the middle 2 piece. the first that was in there was a 20 footer, and it made me mad everytime i looked at it. so i was glad to cut it out.

I got a question also. What do you trim the windshield with when you glue it in like that to finish it off

Cajun, do you have any more pics of how you built your tailgate? I'm thinking I need to do a double wall tailgate to prevent "outies" when I haul stuff, and I really like yours.

thanks, they are stock late model dodge spares. they are 5.5 bolt pattern, so if you have that bolt pattern they will work. Otherwise you need adapters or get creative.

They have some "T" molding or something, I'll get more pics when the glass gets glued back in.

not really. Its fairly simple though. There are tubes top and bottom, then 1x1 set to hold them apart. all of the 1x1 is offset notched for the tube so that they don't line up on the center line but flush with the outside of the tube. So when the 1x1 is set up between the tubes some go flush with the outside, some goes flush with inside. And thats how I got a gap in the middle and a double wall.

really apprecaite it. :metal:

little update... no more shovel handle anymore, got some hood shocks.

but they probably wont be staying. everything works awesome except when I close it, they bow the flimsy hood. so Im going to come up with another another idea, similar to how a retractable pen works.

I figure you'd enjoy these next pics...thanks again for the headliner.

I picked up the rest of the interior pieces from the upholster guy. Tops of the door panels are going to look loose because the leather gets pulled up under the metal window trim.

they came out pretty nice. The design is a bit off on the door panel but I'll live with it. Its hard to go to an upholster knowing *exactly* what you want and be 100% happy. I need to just learn to sew and stuff.
