x2 on the welding gas, I always run out on the weekend, usually Saturday, plus I own my bottle so it is a small bottle too.

mud.man.rj, the ones they sell now are small and they would not last long. All mine are about 40" high and 8" in diameter. You can not buy them any more for some reason.

Well I am tearing her down tomorrow night and start putting her back together. Then finishing it up on Saturday. I will be excited to see how it runs then.

I changed my hei, intake , and carb this weekend and boy did it make a big difference. It now has low end torque. It will blow the tires off now, but I would not know! I do have the hei a tooth off so I am going to change it when I buy my new valve covers. I also bought new wires that I will put on at the same time. I put on the new steering wheel also. This year I will make the street rod show. The last pictures are a little trick my buddy told me to do with the thermostat, put I pill in it . It will dissolve when the antifreeze get through it and you will not get an air pocket. The other one is the wrench I shortened up for my recessed fire wall. I had the TIG out so I used it to glue it together.

Atommik, yes it felt good working on it. Next is to get the side glass in and the radio and speakers. I am going to make fiberglass pods for 6.5" speakers on the doors panels and ones for the 6"x9" when I figure out where to put them.

My buddy stopped so I could check to see what bimba air cylinders to order for the bed cover I am building for him. He is going to use air to lift it from his air system. I checked the skin to see how it fit. It looks great. I also made him an aluminum battery box for his dual batteries that was left from the 5'x10' sheet. I think I have will have enough to make a fan shroud for the panel.

Re: 48 panel truck

oldman3, Thank you. I am very pleased with it and my buddy is too. And is is only a fraction of the cost of the bought ones. Plus it give me a reason to use my TIG. I can not wait to build my 54, because I have so many ideas of the way I want to build it. Most of it will be built from scratch. All I need is time or a clone to send to my full time job!

Re: 48 panel truck

Don't send the clone to the wife, she may like him better, put the clone to work in the garage and send to work also then you can spend "all" your time with the wife.

Re: 48 panel truck

Thought about that...and love my wife but think I would go to the shop and send the clone in to the wife.

Mud.man.RJ, I know just what you mean. It is way more peaceful in the garage. My wife does not come in there either. To dirty and smelly!

I just got my fabricated valve covers today. I do not see how they can make them for the $82 that they cost. They are very nice looking pieces to boot. Now I just have to find the time to put them on.

Hotrod1, that is what I thought. It is 396 BBC. I bought them on Amazon. That is where the steering wheel came from too. I am sure they are imported, but they are very nice. And that was for a pair.

Great price for them and they look great. For an LS (which I have) they are in the 200+ pricetag. Maybe tomorrow they will go on sale?

Re: 48 panel truck

shannon, nice covers. I tell you what, I got a finned nostalgic air cleaner for like 58 bucks shipped and I'm surprised on how good it is, has to be some overseas stuff. Also got a pair of center bolt finned alluminum valve covers (they don't make many like this). They are really top notch quality and exactly what I was looking for, so now I don't gotta buy them stupid adapters to run centerbolt or 4bolt covers. Got them for like 70 or so shipped. But I've lately seen the same looking stuff on ebay for both kit and covers for 100 bucks. Crazy how cheap the stuff is, but its sooo hard to pass up cause the quality is there. Your work is coming along quite nice.

My Auto tech shop has the school office and nurse right across the hall and the wrestling room and Ag green house on the other side so I get a lot of cut through traffic and I get a lot of those comments mostly from girls/women, I just say I will remember that when your car needs worked on.
