I like to where gloves when I'm working with paint, primer and really greasy engine tear down.

" BACK ON !!!!" The front clip that is...We only took it off because we need to install the cowl seals and it came off with only removing 6 bolts. And that made the motor install go real easy..

yes having no front clip makes it real easy to put the engine and transmission , but having no cab helps even more ,that i what i did :D

We really had no trouble whatsoever installing it..We had to loosen the motor mount stands to center everything, but we didn't have to slot ANYTHING.

We are running out of funds as I write this, so the front end will have to wait. Its nice and tight right now so......... And we are going to wait on the A/C also.

We also discovered as we re-built this motor/truck that the previous owners really didn't know what they were doing... The motor was worn out..wiring is totally hacked up under the hood.. not all that great in the cab....probably the most rot I have ever repaired on one vehicle....but.... time spent with my son Jon.... PRICELESS !!!!!!!!!:metal::ennyd:

I completely understand that $$$ thing....just thought since you were there and it's easily accessible now is the time...especially since the bj, tie rods, a-arm shafts, etc are 40 years old;)

Also, I know that Jon probably has you up for Dad of the century:lol: I know I appreciated my brother and Dad's help....even have employed them to help me with my Mom's 66 Mustang project:D

The day your girl says "No play" cause you have grime under your nails you may change your story! LOL!

In all seriousness though lots of health problems may be averted by wearing gloves, all the oils, gas, cleaning solvents and chemicals are not good for the body.

That is the reason I wear them.. Jon learned all about how fast that stuff can be absorbed into your skin.. I have a scary (funny now) story to share.. I painted a VW sand rail frame for a guy back about 17 yrs ago. I didn't wear a good respirator, after about 20 minutes of painting what seemed like 500 feet of bars... I decided it was time to take a break.. well I sat on the steps to the garage and the next thing I know... I was staring at the sky.. I had passed out and was completely HIGH on paint fumes...I have no idea how long I was out, but a trip to the paint store and I had a brand new respirator.

Well your story has a happy ending, thats a good thing. Lots of these chemicals can and have caused cancer and other health issues for lots of people.

Old ones....tore up..and wasted.. Jon and I removed the metal bracket, he blasted them and painted them.. I used a staple gun with 3/8 staples on a block of wood for the roundish flaps, bent the back sides down with a hammer, used the staples from the seal kit to hold the seals to the metal bracket, and hammered the staples flat.. Pretty easy to do...
