Thanks for the pictures joe! I did get dynamat installed under the heater box so I now have heat in the truck. This truck is long! I've parked in a few places at the college and it's kinda scary thinking I might not be able to get it out haha.the truck is still loud but I'm working on that. I have a leak between my transmission/tcase adapterso I'm going to pull the t-case tomorrow. I need to install my parking break cables. It sucks not being able to walk away from the truck when it rolls so easy.

Get a wheel chalk. Shut the truck off put it in gear. Get out and place wheel chalks, go restart the truck and take it out of gear. Wala! I have to do this to my ford since the great napa ebrake cables stick!

Yeah that would work but I want to hook it up anyway. It will make life easier than starting and shutting off the motor all the time.

Re: 85 GMC Sierra Classic 1 Ton Crew Cab

Well I have been driving the truck to school for a while now. So far it works great, im kind of on the edge about the 6.2, it does great, but with the 4 speed manual it really seems to lack some power. I did get the transfer case dropped out of the truck and re sealed, but I have not drove the truck for 2 days so I am not sure if it is fixed now or not.

How well do you think that Dynamat helped it?

Mattman2010 01-27-2012 10:37 PM

Re: 85 GMC Sierra Classic 1 Ton Crew Cab

The dynamat did not kill the sound of the engine by a little there is still a lot of noise, but I have not finished covering all of what I want to. It did kill drone noise which I beleive was the firewall rattling from the sound. It got rid of the high pitched sound tho so it doesn't get as annoying.

Re: 85 GMC Sierra Classic 1 Ton Crew Cab

Nothing much with the truck lately. Been having some trouble starting it because I think my ignition switch is starting to go bad. At times I will turn the key and get nothing, turn it off and then turn it again and it will turn right over. I have decided that some more things are going to change on the truck. As you all probably know not to long ago I was loosing motivation on the truck when I keep replacing parts well I have came to the conclusion that sense I have as much money into the truck it is time to change things on it that I really want. One of those things is the drive train. The 6.2/Sm465/np208 is a good drive train, but it is just not the dream drive train that I have been wanting. So I have been talking to Dieselwrencher for a while and found out that he had a 94 12v Cummins that he was looking to sell. It will be a while before I will have it because I gotta pay him off and he is going to do some things to it. I then hope to have it swapped in by this summer. These are some pictures that he sent me. Ill let the pictures do the talking.

94 P-Pumped 12v out of a freight liner. Ill be getting the correct parts to be mating it up to a NV4500 and all of that as well.

Haha yup another one of those cummins swaps. There must be a reason for this madness haha. The 6.2 will probably end up turboed and stuck in my k10. I must just like diesels haha.

Thanks man! I cant wait. Depending on what I find for a NV4500 I might end up finding a dodge 2wd one and run it as 2wd for a while and then find a divorced 205. But I think my best bet would be to find a GM NV4500 and put a NP208 behind it. That will allow me to hook up the speedo on the np208. If I went divorced I am not sure how I would end up hooking up the speedo.

I would need a longer cable tho wouldnt I?

Re: 85 GMC Sierra Classic 1 Ton Crew Cab

They make cables as long as you want, just cut it to length.

Here are a couple of pics for you on those clearance lights you were asking me about.

They fit on the roof better than I thought they would.

I ran 6" lift with 35"s and had about 3/4" between tire and front fender at full lock with flex out on my bump stops. I'm running 8" lift now and I'll have my new bfg baja 37" hummer's on it in the next week or so, if you would like pictures on my crew. I think if you want to run it offroad you would get in the fenders with 6" and 37s. Also if you like the lifted look, it takes more lift to bring it out on 22' Long crew IMO.

Yeah I'd like to see some pictures. I won't be offroading much, basically driving into a field to get a deer or some fire wood. It will mostly stay on the road and act as the dd/tow pig. So 6 inches will be fine for me.

So I figured I would update this thread with the plans I have for this truck. As I would like to here peoples opinions on what they think.

-12V Cummins
-NV4500 - Going to look for either a 2wd Dodge one or a 4x4 GM version, if I go with a 2wd I will find a divorced 205, if I find a GM version I will probably run a NP208 till I can afford to adapt a np205 to it in some way.
-6 Inch rough country lift kit, with a shackle flip in the back. I want to keep my stock 1 ton springs and don't want to have blocks in the rear.
-16.5 Inch wagon wheels painted or powder coated black
-37 inch hummer tires

One thing I am wondering about is the exhaust, I am really thinking about an 8" stack in the bed. The truck wont smoke that much when I get it going but at some point it will. I have always kinda liked stacks but hate how they take up space in the bed. But with the 8 foot bed i think the little space it will take up wont effect hauling anything.

Also the truck has been dubbed "THE TANK" by my friends. They are not around trucks all that much and they love it
