Thanks... Today is about taking the bed off again... Need it off to replace the bedside and be able to strip the cab to bare metal... Once that's all done shoot the epoxy on it & move on from there... I mean it is "Labor Day" after all... Posted via Mobile Device |

Thanks... My kids & I like it too... I tell my kids I'm getting old... They tell me, "Your not old Dad." "Your just a big kid." I like that and they're right... Growing up would suck... Posted via Mobile Device |

Hidden rust and waiting on new sheet metal pieces didn't curtail me from making some progress over "Labor Day."
Thanks once again for my neighbors helping get some heavy lifting done... My girls said, "It looks naked." I feel like I'm going backwards sometimes... Oh, well... Re: The misadventures of Captain Krylon - 68 C-10 barn find
Cool build! Keep up the good work! I can't wait to see it finished. I have a similar rear bumper to yours from Henna Chevrolet in Austin. It was on a truck k I parted out and I haven't decided what to do with it yet. My brother has a 72 cheyenne my uncle me bought new in Houston from AJ Foyt Chevrolet. It still has the dealer bumper on it.
Its little late to the game, but I thought I would mention this since you're using a low buck approach. I have seen mention of using a Harley shift rod as an adjustable throttle rod. I have found a few stock ones on feebly from guys who upgraded but haven't pulled the trigger yet. I will be needing one for my next build which is a '70. |

Re: The misadventures of Captain Krylon - 68 C-10 barn find
I must admit, Ive skimmed the thread a few times. I sat down with my coffee after I woke up this morning and have read the entire thread. Good job. Im a fabricator for a living (and always learning). Youre doing a fine job welding. The only thing I can say that will be helpful without actually showing you is when you patch sheet metal is to take your time. Tack everything into place. and then tack every 4 inches (in different areas of the patch) in a slow progression. let everything cool for a good while. take your air grinder (or dremel or grinder with a feathering wheel) and smooth the tacks down. take your flat hammer and planish your welds as to not let them shrink. then over lap those welds and repeat. The trick with sheet metal is to take your time. A small 8"x8" patch for me can take up to an hour to be done correctly. The corner weld you have on your door are looking good, they feather discs that have a "wrap" designed specifically for those types of welds (not sure if you are using them of have them).
Anyway just thought Id offer my advice, helpful or not. Good luck and keep at it! Looks great. |

I'll update with pics and more info when I'm not staring at this little screen. It hurts my old man eyes... Basically, I'm in the process of learning "new" skills as most "professionals" don't seem to think my money is green enough?!? I worked enough overtime during Christmas to have a big enough stack to pay the bill... However... I'm amazed at how folks want the $$ but don't wanna earn it. I don't understand this "entitlement" generation... As my ol' man always said... "Boy, if you want it done right, you'd better do it yourself." |

Very cool build! I'm glad I found it. You have taken this truck so far from when you found it in the barn. subscribed.

Im in for some motivation! So I read it all...
Love the old cooler and your approach. The pointed humor is a great mix as to not make it too serious. Subscribed as well. Keep up the hard work. Mike |
