Trucks been running pretty good the past while, so I finally decided to order some more parts for it. While I was waiting, I took it up for the long weekend for some camping...

Re: Parked Indefinite

...and I went and picked up those parts today. First thing was a shifter for the camaro console that I have. Going to clean it up some more, but I think it's going to look pretty sweet once it's in there:

Also picked up a set of wastegate actuators. Supposedly set for 7.5psi, they'll hopefully work out alright, but we'll see. Can't wait to finally start putting some pressure into this thing..
Here a pic of them:

Well, not too much to report, but made some progress on the center console project. Pics:

Thanks man, feels like I'm driving a different truck after I've been using the column shift for so long. I've been having fun manually shifting the gears once in a while to wind 'er up a little more than I usually do. This thing definitely has some potential as it breaks the tires loose in 2nd around 3500rpm once the boost starts to climb to a modest 4psi or so. Now if I could only quit reaching for the phantom column shifter every time I go to put it in park.

Anyways, decided to put my hitch back on today. Been thinking about picking up another project car and wanted to be able to tow the future money pit home should the opportunity arise. I like how most of the hitch is hidden with the bumper 2" lower. I think I'd like it even more if I had the proper bumper on there:lol:

Nice work and I laughed at the phantom column shifter. I go for the clutch every time I get in to an auto vehicle as I always drive a stick.

I'm here to tell you turbos hate flowcrappers, get some real mufflers.

Kind of a boring update, but it's time to get a heater in this thing. Its a bit of a death trap in the mornings without out a defroster. Since there's just a big void underneath the console i started to fit the old heater core in there. It was a tighter fit than I realized, so i had to angle it in there a little. I'm not too sure how well this is going to work, but it should be better than nothing. Here's some pics of how far I got:

Hoses from the engine:

Coming down the front:

Down the frame:

And into the cab:

http://i80.photobucket.com/albums/j1...psc338ad51.jpg

Here's the heater core in the console. Still have to wire the fan in and duct it up to the defroster vents, hopefully it'll work out:

Pic in the midst:

I also picked this thing up for the next project. It's a little rougher than what I wanted, but the price was right after talking the guy down quite a bit. Should be fun.

Heater install is looking good. How's the truck doing with the turbos?

Thanks! The heater ended up working so-so, hoping it'll be good enough to get me through the winter. Truck is doing fine with the turbos, but I'll admit that I've never really pushed it too far. I rely on this thing as a daily driver, so I'm still a little gunshy after I lost a few ring lands with that dinosaur of a turbo I had on a while ago. One day I'll put the screws to it, though I probably should rebuild the former engine with a forged bottom end first, but we'll see. Having said that though, there wouldn't be much that would stop me from trying to rig up your 354 with the 871 and two holsets somehow:lol:

Well now that the weather has started to make a turn for the better, i finally got around to installing those wastegate actuators i bought awhile ago. Made up a couple brackets and bolted them in. I've just been putting around with the gates propped open for the winter months, so its going to be fun to see how it respond to a little more pressure. Hope she holds!

Thanks, still needs a little fine tuning but it turned out ok.

Wanted to hook up the wideband and since i didn't think to buy a gauge when i picked up the kit, i had to settle for the laptop. Cobbled together a wood stand for it and put it in place. Looks a little goofy but it serves the purpose for now.

Nice little stand you have there. I actually have the same little laptop I only use for tuning my C10.

Nice work and I'm interested to see how it reacts to more boost. I'm working on my 40 Ford now and seriously thinking about giving it 2 HX35w's as well. How do you like that MSD boost retard box?

I just read through this whole build thread, you sir have creativity and have the knowledge and skill to put that creativity to work. Just plain awesome, keep us updated:metal:

Thanks man, these laptops are definitely nice for that. It almost makes me want to wire it up to read throttle position, boost, fuel pressure, and a few others, but that'd probably be overkill for this.

Glad to hear you're working on your 40 now! Do you have a thread on it anywhere? Be a cool project to follow along with. I like knowing i have that msd box in the mix, and it seems to work alright. I really want to get an airline with a regulator and hook up the timing light one day, just to see if its doing as advertised. Be a fun experiment i think anyway

Thanks man!

Well, so far everything's been going pretty good. Pretty sweet hearing these turbos at all times now. Definitely going to have to mess around with the carb, as it has some lean spots, bogs, etc. Rigged up my old iphone to capture some videos, just going to have to find a better place to mount it. Stay tuned...because maybe one day this truck will be too

Re: Parked Indefinite

What fuel pump and size of lines did you end up going with? My biggest thing in putting the turbos is the cost of it all. I may make all the piping and stuff and put the turbos on later. We'll see. The real goal is to drive it in July. That is a big goal as the frame is literally being repaired and the body is on a dolly. haha

What are the specs on the motor? Cam, Crank, Pistons, Heads? Looking into single turbo my '82 just curious as to ehat you have holding yours together. And are you using any high pressure head gaskets?

Very nice center console! I was looking into the horseshoe shifter myself this last week. But ive got bigger fish to fry at the moment.

pump is a walbro 255 with -8 lines for the feed and return. I like to think i got my setup done pretty cheap, but i guess it just seems that way since it was spread out. Sounds like a lofty plan, but it doesn't have to be pretty or even all together to be able to drive:lol:

I've never had this motor apart so i don't really have exact specs. I'm guessing it has the stock cam, crank, heads and cast pistons though. Doubt the head gaskets are anything special either. I do have a boost retard box on it as well as a wideband which helps preserve things they say, plus i'm only running 8psi or so. Was driving it the other day and it seemed fairly gutless, and wasn't making any boost or turbo noise, couldn't even chirp 3rd for christs sake! Popped the hood and it turned out the tube came off the hat, figured it'd still make the spooling sound but i guess not. Anyways, hooked it back up and now its back to breaking loose halfway through first and spinning till i let up.

Thanks man! Im throwing the idea around of running a single turbo on my 355, stock heads for now but I have speed pro dome head pistons, comp extreme energy cam, dual plane air gap victor jr intake, holley 750 vacuum secondary carb. With your experience do you think I could handle a single turbo?
