Pic #1. Here is the tail light mount idea I had during mockup. Pic #2. Some holes welded up that will not be used. Pic #3. The new bracket after it was cut, drilled etc. Nothing fancy here but once painted should look pretty good. Pic #4. LED light mounted. Mark... |

Pic #1. View from rear.
Pic #2. This is the inner section that was bad. The remaining portion around the bed was all good and would not be replaced. (customer has requested the inside be shot with bedliner and color matched) and then it will have wood floor. Pic #3. after repairs done. Pic #4. Tailgate finally in Epoxy. Mark... |

Pic #2. closer look. Pic #3. other side. Pic #4. First round of filler. With the amount of work needed to fix this thing it might have been better to buy a new one, but was already invested in it to much so no going back now! Mark... |

Been awhile since I've posted on this one..
Been super busy on rebuilding the back end of a 78 FJ. Pic #1. Few small spots around outer section need some tlc. Pic #2. Tailgate in Highbuild again. Pic #3. Bedsides needed some poly filler. Pic #4. center needed some attention. (at this point it would have been better to just buy a new tailgate but didnt relize it was this bad :( ) Mark... |

Thank's Rusty...This was alot more work than I had figured ,but it was already too far into to just stop and get a new one sooo, on we go.
Pic #1. The cowl all ready for some blocking. Pic #2. Front side of tailgate needed some attention. Pic #3. The front panel needed repair work as well. The flange was rotted off so I would remove all bad and replace it. Pic #4. Front panel was stripped as well. Pic #5. The 3rd pic was wrong one This is the flange ;) |

Pic #1. Front panel after 1st round of blocking.
Pic #2. here you can see how much this old Farm truck was USED.. Pic #3. Tailgate after more blocking was done and another round of High Build. Pic #4. This is the rear section that holds the bed together. This thing was in need of some love.. Pic #5. since it was so bent up and and you cant really get in to Hammer and dolly it, I made this piece to be welded over it to make it nice and flat.. Mark... |
Re: Blake's 67 GMC stepside build
Are those little mig tacks around the perimeter? Good solution for a rough panel.
|
Re: Blake's 67 GMC stepside build
Yes they are, will be welded solid then smoothed.
