Fired up the motor today on the floor since it was bugging me and i had to know if it runs! I changed the oil and filter (since i had no idea what was in there) I had some distributor troubles at first but once that was resolved IT RAN GREAT!!!! Fired up ran nice and smooth with 60psi oil press. I kept the valve covers off to see everything work and it looked good! Did a compression test right after and all cyls are within 5 pounds of each other! Im pretty happy with that so my boy and i mocked the motor up to see how it fits with the 73+ mounts.

This is one of my favorite builds, it's turning out great! I'm planning on doing a lot of the same mods and your thread is a great reference.

Well not to much to report on the truck lately. I did get in my headers and now I can finish mocking up a few things. Since I can't have the headers hanging lower than the frame I went with a set of Chevelle Mid length headers. I had to trim and notch the passenger side frame rail to make that side fit but other than that They fit great! I also picked up a set of flowmaster ball sockets as i plan to cut the collectors off the headers and weld them on to eliminate possible collector flange leaks.

Once the motor was back out i figured i should pull the cab back off and finish up the trans crossmember and trailing arm crossmember mods. As well as get rid of the rest of the rivets and stuff i left behind. I decided to pull the cab a little safer than last time!

I did a little more work on the truck the past few days. I finished up the steering column and got it installed into the truck. I took my 72 auto column and tore it down and repainted and replaced everything inside so hopefully it works now! I just have to figure out what style of wheel to go with? Original or ???

I also installed all the door glass ( no good pics of that ) and replaced all the door hardware like cranks, latches, window regs, seals etc..... There was also a dent in the drivers door that bothered me so i took the trim off and straightened it out and it turned out pretty good!

Thanks for all the pictures and inspiration on that old truck. Now that I've got my ol green beast running, I'm antsy to get home from work every day and get another task done on my truck to make it better. I'm excited to see more progress. Cheers!

I've been back and forth with leaving the firewall glossy or going with a flat clear and I've decided flat. I just didn't think shiny went with the overall rusty dirty patina look I'm going for. Heres a few more pics of some rework from shine to flat. :metal:

I also figured while I was at it id pull the heater boxes out of storage and clean them up! (Boring stuff!!!) I ended up rebuilding them by installing a new gasket kit, fan motor, heater core, cables and a quick shot of paint. They turned out decent and now i can get then installed and out of the way.

Re: 67 C10 "Green Gobblin" straight from the field!
The firewall and heater box are both looking very nice. Good detail work!

Re: 67 C10 "Green Gobblin" straight from the field!
Thanks! I dug through my pile of heater boxes (3) and I couldn't find one that doesn't have a 3rd hole for the top heater core outlet. Anyone know why there's different holes? Different heater core options?
