These pictures really makes me want to go work on my 68's but when it's only 5 degrees outside, I hit the brakes when the door opens. lol. Nice rides gentlemen.

Just got this rig today. Used to have a dump bed that didn't work so a flat bed may be down the road:metal: 1971 Custom 30, 350, 4-speed, pto and buddy buckets!

The bed frame on that is factory stock with the curved corners. If you don't use it, take it apart and store it in your stash of truck parts....either that, or I could store it up here in my stash... :)

Thanks for the info on the flat bed! I wondered if it was aftermarket or not. Even though the truck does not run yet (just bought it recently), my children are inexplicably drawn to sit on the bed, and even take their dinner plates outside to picnic on it! It appears that the metal top of this bed was added and that there may have been a wooden one once, but I am not sure.

I can't say with 100% conviction, but I'm pretty sure that the truck left the factory with a long leaf yellow pine deck that was nine boards wide. Over the course of time it's not uncommon for a couple of them to swell and buckle upwards because the stringers usually prevented them from buckling down. Some previous owner may have put a steel deck on it because it was easier than replacing the wood.

Good looking truck Joe. Did you change the wheels from the two-piece or did GMC come with those rims?

It was a pretty nice truck. I sold it, but I kept the bed. The guy that bought it was going to change the bed, so I kept it

I've often wondered if big truck 22's would look too cartoonish on our trucks.
Has anyone here tried them?

Nice truck!

I drive it a couple of times a month. I use it for myself now days as the picture shows. Buried the lawn mower after a lot of rain. Then buried the truck trying to pull the mower out. lol. The other picture is what it looked like before I drug it out of the field after sitting 29 years.

The wheels are factory original 18" Split Rims. Thanks for the comments.

There's more information in the
67-72 Chevrolet & GMC Pickups Projects and Builds forum.

Love the wheels. Thought they were 19.5s at first. Never knew that size existed
