Stripped the old intake off and got the edelbrock performer EPS installed and then ran into a snag with the HEI not fitting.

Just got to sort out if I can fit a stock HEI or whether I need to convert the twin point mallory to electronic with an external coil and then finish cleaning up and painting all the odd little brackets etc and refit them. I've even got a cool little direct mount moon temp guage to go in one hole on the manifold. The Mickey T valve covers are getting soda blasted as we speak and then I can either polish or paint them.

temporarily mounted a new radio in the spot for the heater controls (it will be stealth mounted later) replaced the door speakers with marine speakers (so that water won't kill them) and continued working on painting the door panels.
I am thinking about putting a pinstripe design on the bottom of the door once I get it looking ok. Maybe something in yellow (Navy blue paint right now)

My dad found my Bowtie wingnut yesterday so that was my big install last night. Between a headache, sore jaw from a visit to the dentist and the 98* temp, I stayed inside. Hopefully I can get my carpet all prepped for install and get all of my stereo components installed for good tonight.

Looks good. Even with the v8 in the rear position (with good motor mounts), the HEI will fit. You should take the cap off to install anyway and it will give you more clearance. If it's intake manifold interference you're worried about I won't be any help with the EPS. Performer works fine.

Even with the cap off its hitting the firewall enough to push the top forward and stop me dropping it in I think its engine mount bodgery. I've decided to go with a Pertronix conversion kit for the Mallory as its nearly new and a flamethrower coil, should be here tomorrow. Coil is a black one so it should dissaper on the firewall a little and it'll be relocated a bit more out of sight and rewired anyway.

Here ya go.. I just went outside and took some pics! Now it is raining! THANKS! hahahha All I did was use some 3/4" Heater hose. Slit it down one side. Rolled it over and ziptied it to the upper hose at the bracket. Works good so far.

Re: What did you do to your truck today!

Managed to get all four new panels cut, and installed on the head liner of the burb. Tomorrow I plan to remove one and cut out a new one, since the gaps are to big for the bow strips and just barely hanging on.
The whole thing looks good, but I predict that I will re do another panel in the future.
Trying hard to get her looking good for the Brothers show, and not having any head liner was bugging me to much.

Hopefully she will look her best amongst so many hot looking trucks at the show.

1969 stepper- bolted carb down, put in the radiator, water, added gas and busted it off for the first time. Went to local parts store and bought wheel cylinders, brake hardware kits and new front and rear shoes. Going to make it road worthy.

This was a few days ago but I finished part of the exhaust and mounted the cab. Today I rebuilt the bed and started to figure out how I want to mount my air tank. Let me know what you all think.

I had that problem on a car once. Turned out they had the wrong transmission mount and crossmember in there and the engine was tilted down in the back too far. It was just enough you couldn't even get the distributor out of the engine without jacking up the tail end of the trans.

Washed the exterior, wiped down the interior and cleaned under hood. Took it for a quick drive, first drive in 3 weeks, running good. Gonna have to pull the engine and fix some major oil leaks though, may even put a standard pressure pump back in it, getting tired of it puking oil every time I drive it.

installed a ton of parts, 4.10 gears with an eaton trutrac differential, monster transmission 700r4, and got my david boyd aluminum gas tank under the bed, plumbed, and wired. what a difference on the performance, went from a tired th350 with 2.73's to all those new goodies. it was a good 4th weekend!!

Modified my square body K10 frame to make it fit the 67 cab structure better by moving the back of cab frame arch 10" rearward and cut it down in length a little to place the tires where I want them relative to the 67 body wheel arches.

The cab now sits 2" lower in the back and can align with the bed without the need for a 3" body lift as is typically done with this swap.

Just need to get the truck into my driveway where it can be leveled out then I can secure the bed in place and fabricate the cab mount brackets to fit the new cab location. Hopefully I can get that done in the next weekend or two.

After that is done I can move on to the fun part of retrofitting the more modern drivetrain and accessories then tackle the rust repair & body work.

First pic is before the frame mods, second pic is after (the bed & cab are just set in place and need to move forward a little in the second pic).

Re: What did you do to your truck today!

Did a compression check on the engine had 140-150 lbs on each cylinder except one. On number 4 I only had 130 lbs. As long as I had the spark plugs out I put new ones in. Old ones only had about a hundred miles on them but I wanted to try the accel header plugs. Made a big difrence on how close the wire boots are to the headers about a half inch.

Went and got some new rear tires this morning. Went with BF Goodrich 275/60/15. I think they look a lot better. I am getting 245/60/15 for the fronts soon... They are 235/75/15 right now.
