whats up guys?
Im still chipping away at this project. Heres a couple pictures of the the turck getting some primer and us working on the hood gaps. Driver side of the hook took alot of work. we had to wield all the way down it to get the gap right. |

Heres a couple pictures of a mod i did to the steps. I did not like the way the steps fit to the fender so i carried the body line from the fender down though the step. It still i little ruff but i like it.

This is the prototype of the wood separators I want to use. It’s a piece of aluminum angle cut to fit. Its a 1/8' taller than the wood so the ice chest does not scratch the wood!

So I got the Cypress in the bed and I’m scared to stain it because it look great as is but I’m going to stain it dark like the bottom picture. I will use the burn/ Stain technique to finish the wood. The wood will have a weathered look.

More primed and more blocking. Check out the gaps. All we have is the hood to body work and then we can block the cab and dog house all together. Getting closer and closer every sunday. I will try to post more pictures more often.

Awesome progress on the bodywork! All that time and effort is really paying off. Keep it up, you'll be in paint soon.
I'm digging the wood bed, that aluminum separator is really cool. |

Guys,
Here’s a couple more shoots of the hood gaps. The Passenger side was good until about the last 8' by the grill. The passenger side we had to rework the full length of the hood. It was wielded then filed down with a long file to keep it straight.. Lots of fun but the gap is money now. |
Re: I think i can!!! - SWB 72 Step-side
Man, those gaps are looking good! Nice work, keep it up!
|
Re: I think i can!!! - SWB 72 Step-side
So when you have all your gaps set, how do you keep them that way? What I mean is will you disassemble for paint? And if so, how to you ensure you get it back together the same?
|

All the parts(fenders, hood, hinges...) are drilled with a 1/8' drill bit in 2 places before disassembly. When you reassemble you use a 1/8 pick or drill bit to line up the holes and it will get you very close. |
