Thanks man, my wallet didn't like it  but I knew it would be easiest to do it now. Plus I don't like stock sounding motors. I definitely got a healthy one, I went with a Tick Performance SNS Torquemax Stage 2 V2 LS2 cam. Should be plenty rowdy :metal: specs in the link below.

Thanks Ben, it went pretty smoothly for my first time doing this.

You gonna love that cam. I put the SNS stage 3 LS2 cam in my Chevelle. Awesome is all I can say about it.

There's a low miles 5.3 on the stand in my shop right now that belongs to my Boy's pal. He paid $450 complete with harness. I drive a 5.3 every day. It's going to be super cool man. It'll haul azz and get the mpg BUT I think the BBC would have been cooler. JMO

The BBC looks a little cooler due to its physical size and the huge valve covers but I think the LS motors look really cool too when done right and with much better driveability. I went with a healthy cam in the LS but I'll still be able to run power brakes and air conditioning. Something I couldn't do with my current big block as it is a little on the extreme side.

Lots of catching up to do on your thread... but what I've seen and knew already.. nice work! Great score on the 6.0, love the paint booth setup.. and jealous jealous jealous of so many parts you have that I want!

Keep up the great work its inspiring!

Thanks Jimmy, I'm jealous that you have the inside of your cab painted and putting the interior in. It's so cold here that I can barely get my garage heated to 70 degrees and forget about the metal it's hard to get it up to 60 degrees. Maybe I'll see some paint in the spring.

A little progress from this weekend. I got my valve springs installed along with the Brian Tooley racing Trunnion upgrade for the factory rockers. Also installed my new timing chain and ported oil pump. I'm just waiting for my fbody oil pan to come in and I can button this motor back up. Then I can prep and paint it.

Sorry no video. Gotta make one. Drove it for about a month with the header dumps off and I can tell you this, "when I fired that sucker up people first about jumped outta their skin and then they came running". Awesome cam shaft.

Thanks Mike, I'm ready to wrap this motor up and get back on the bodywork. It has been a nice distraction as I was getting burnt out with sanding but it's time to get back to it.

Thanks Jason, I really enjoyed working on it. It's the first time I ever tore into a motor like this and I had a blast.

I have heard some YouTube clips of the stage 3 cam and it is nasty. I could only imagine what it sounds like in person.

Wow, that would be awesome Chris, it would just take your amazing truck up another notch, if that is even possible. If I had your big block with the roller cam and fuel injection I probably wouldn't have made the switch at this time.

Motor is looking good Keith. All those upgrades should put a smile on your face. I probably missed it but what color are you painting the motor?

Just wondering where the big block went ?

Thanks, it should be fun to drive. I plan on painting the motor and the valve covers torch red just like the body. I can get some practice done on the motor before I paint the cab and front clip.

Thanks Tom, I still have the big block and the turbo 400, in the spring when it warms up I'll get the frame out of storage and pull the motor and trans to sell. Know anybody who wants it lol.

Re: Project "What was I Thinking" 68 SWB

Yesterday I got my fbody oil pan installed along with the front timing cover. I was finally able to get this pos harbor freight motor stand to turn all the way around to allow me to install the oil pan easier. I had to reinstall my balancer to make sure the timing cover was centered and lined up correctly, after I got the cover torqued down I pulled the balancer back off so I can clean it up and paint it. I'll reinstall it after I paint the block.

Looking good Keith:metal:. I like the fact your changing the front timing cover and oil pan gaskets while the engine is out, something I regret on my build. I would recommend drilling and tapping the 1/8"-27 NPT threads on your cast metal assembly above the oil filter to accept 1/8" NPT sensor for your oil PSI gauge while the engine is out.

Re: Project "What was I Thinking" 68 SWB

Keith, I got my LS started last night. I put my coil packs on the inside of the main cab support between the support and the trans tunnel on the tow board. It was a close fit, but they are in there. I forgot to snap some pictures, but I'll see if I can get some tonight!

Great thinking, and might have to do this on mine!

Re: Project "What was I Thinking" 68 SWB

Sorry for the lack of updates guys. I have had a major setback in my life that may force me to sell my project and never see it finished. This is the last thing in the world I want, I have way to much time, energy and money invested in this project to just let it go. I am going to sell some things off the project like the wheels and one of the motors (not decided which one yet) to try and recoup some funds. Hopefully I will be able to keep the truck but in the end if I have to sell it, then I will. I won't have any updates for a while as I try to sort this out.

Keith, real sorry to hear that. I know youve worked your butt off in this and have a lot more than money invested in this but there's other things that are more important to take care of. I'll keep you in my thoughts and prayers as you work through this.
