The price is 12,000 and is a perfectly fair price for this truck, I've listed the replacements - do the math yourself. If you call and low ball me, after I get a good laugh, I'll hang up.

When a seller feels compelled to attempt to convince potential buyers that the asking price is 'perfectly fair' before they've even called, he's indicating that even he doesn't really believe it's perfectly fair to ask that much for it. Has been stated a thousand times on here - the $ a seller sinks into a truck to sell it has no relation to its actual worth in most cases. What I can say, is that if I'm on the fence interested in a truck - when the ad is written like this, I normally just pass to avoid the hassle.

I hear you loud and clear on this truck and seller. I think this truck is going to be available for sale for quite awhile.

The price is 12,000 and is a perfectly fair price for this truck, I've listed the replacements - do the math yourself. If you call and low ball me, after I get a good laugh, I'll hang up.

Pretty sure it's not the original motor in it. Doesn't the AC live on the passenger side of the engine not the alternator???

302 is an overbored 283. Guaranteed that isn't original, unless they sleeved the snot out of a 350. The 283 was discontinued in '67 (replaced by the 307 in '68), IIRC. Maybe they meant 307.

Yeah, there's a lot of bull droppings around when you go to buy stuff. Sad thing is, the current owner believes it, hook line and sinker. One of my younger sisters bought a '66 Chevelle with a "4-bolt main 350". When it came time for a rebuild, I pulled it out and found a small main journal 327. That's what got put back in, too. She was really disappointed, but had been driving it for many years, none the wiser.

No it's not professionally restored. It's a restomod or just call it a one of a kind custom.

Semantics. You get what you see in the pics. He used words that meant something to him. Everybody does it, he's not trying to "trick" anybody, give the guy a break.

Now if he says frame off restoration and doesn't show you a pic under the truck, THEN I could see talking some crap on the guy.

These are starting to show up on Bringatrailer, this one just jumped from $9500 to $20,000 in one step. Interior color seems odd compared to exterior and the undercarriage is way too crusty for the $$$. What do you think?

Words like nut and bolt restoration means a close to 100 point concours restoration, not a box of aftermarket parts bolted in and custom items. Sorry, been around judged cars since the late 80's. If everybody is doing it? Then they are all wrong.

Though not a common combo, interior color is correct per the SPID. No comment on current price, but I think it would have been quite a fair deal at 9500. But I agree with your overall observation - there is a rash of insanity in prices across the flipper world at the moment. LOTs of $25-40K basic trucks out there. Yes, I realize it’s worh whatever someone will pay, but that doesn’t mean it’s always a good deal. (To be clear, not talking about this particular truck - speaking in general across the market at the moment).

Re: Post Your Craigslist Finds

meh, seller is quite up front of what he's selling, including a laundry list of all the aftermarket brand names..

as well as several high resolution, top to bottom, front to back, inside and out pictures to leave no question as to what it is..

highly doubt the seller is the builder here, likely a semi-wealthy customer bored with his new toy..

and either way, there's no dispute it was absolutely done professionally..

nut-and-bolt to me means every part and assembly taken down to its smallest component and replaced or refinished..

and several synonyms for restoration that could be used in multiple context..

we see the common con artists rear its ugly head quite often, but this isn't one here.. seller's shootin' straight..

as for the truck, it's way out of my league but I would certainly consider it long before ever stepping foot in a dealer ;)

cheers all and good luck shopping!
