more old truck . I will likely start a thread once I do more than just wash it .

It really seems like a good old truck . Power everything and it even works ! Some brake work and a drivers side floor pan and a coat of paint and good to go. Im thinking flat green army style . The wife not so much . Lol.

The white will fade just like a memory and look more like it fits in all the time.

Trucks at Oro was last nite. I was there. It was good. But very cold! I will have to make it to Coldwater this year. Two weeks today I think. Hopefully one of these years I can pull with mine too.

Re: My 56 6bt 4X4 build.

So this wknd was the coldwater fair truck pull. What a great nite. Weather couldn't have been any nicer. Got a chance to hook the old girl to the sled again. Once again the truck is super lite Even with me in it the truck only weighed in at 5400 lbs. I was in the diesel up to 8500 class. Well the old blue truck did good. Out of 35 trucks I am sure I was in the top 12 or so at 244 ft.

Good fun. Here's a vid. .

Nice hook! They just keep lugging!

Yep she doesn't lite the world on fire off the line but she did a good job lugging down the line. The new rubber made all the difference I think. The tall skinny BFGs bit well. I really want to install the fuel pin and gov spring but I'm afaraid that will be the end of the getrag.

It'll probably take it. (If it doesn't, don't be mad at me.)

Getrags can take it. I tortured mine and could never make it give, but I have Murphy's Law keeping all of my junk from falling apart. I had way more than a fuel pin and gov. spring.

The governor spring should actually help the old 'rag as I don't think they like to lug - at least they don't sound like it.

Man where has the time gone. It has been a real long cold winter here. The warmer weather made me realize spring is coming so I better get a few chores sorted out before the boats take over for the next few months. Went out to the barn and threw batt on charge for a hr and she fired rite up. Don't know when it saw snow last. At least 22 years I figure. I Hope to get a front end alignment done soon. Not too much else to do before I can drive around this summer.

Heck yeah! I love those white wheels. Did you have to lock the hubs in?

6BT 56 03-16-2015 10:15 PM

Re: My 56 6bt 4X4 build.

Yep. For the 3rd time lol. Once at each tractor pull and then on sat to get over the big snow berm at the barn door. Glad to hear you like the white wheels. They have grown on me finally. How have you been doing Luther. Family doing well I hope. Still driving the truck a bunch I hope. Anything else going on ? LS Chevelle ? Duramax malibu ? Good to hear from you.

Re: My 56 6bt 4X4 build.

Nice to see it out of the barn again! We have had an awesome warm spell and with any luck the white crap is gone for good. I highly doubt it though..... I agree, the white wheels look nice. I finally got my other 16.5x9.75 wheels for my 72. I'm contemplating getting 35's for them and putting them on it. At least you don't have much to do to get the truck DD'ing again!

6BT 56 03-16-2015 10:57 PM

Re: My 56 6bt 4X4 build.

Those will look sweet. I tracked down a few sets of the chrome hubcaps like your truck would have had when new. I got 5 chevy and 6 gmc rounded up. Don't ask how lol. I still need to cut the centers out of the fronts I put the rears on just the other day and I don't think they look rite on the 6 ish rims and the tall 235 tires. Your wide wheels would be perfect tho. I think I'm going to stick with my bare steel wheels for now. I will post a few pics once I get the fronts cut out so I can put all on then decide

Re: My 56 6bt 4X4 build.

So I'm going to get under the truck this afternoon and try to do the alignment myself. Any one have any comments on where to set it ? Dead straight? Toed in a bit ? Haven't had too much time to drive it yet. Seems I'm always in the big truck these days with a boat hooked on the back. The end is in sight tho. Then only 10 weeks and it will be time to pull all the boats back out again . Lol.
