Mine looked like that once upon a time ...until I decided to notch the frame and run 22's in the back

Looking good!

Mine will be staying this way even with the step notch and 22's. My mock up tires are 31" and I still have enough room, yours are what about 30"? Also as I build the rear 3 link wish bone set up I will be sliding the rear end further back to keep it centered up as right now they are just a tad forward. Now I may end up running a slight inner tub but the door opening should stay as is. Am I missing something? If so please chime in as I will be starting the other side on Sunday I have a Nor-Cal meet today to go to and dinner with my wife and friends for her Birthday.

So when are you installing the machine guns behind the headlights?

Mine are 31.6" overall (305/40/22). We took slightly different approaches to this so you may be fine. But it's amazing how quickly that space goes away when you get close to the ground (mine doesn't even lay frame). With a 2" longer wheelbase those tub protrusions will naturally be smaller.

No doubt it will be close. I will use these tires for fitments and see how it goes. I sent a little something back home with Brad for you so make sure you hit him up!

Slight change in plans for the new rocker area. I liked how it turned out but it just didn't flow right. It looked home made so I cut parts out and built some new parts today. Here is the new version.

Definately better and allows you to have a curved door corner rather than squared off.

Re: LFD's 4dr Tahoe Build

Yeah that looks better. As you said the roundness of it does flow better. Looking very sweet, you have got some of the best metal working skills i have seen. Daren

Yes it looks much better this way, I already thought that you would change it;).
This is the only way it has to be, indeed great metal work.
I like every picture I see from you. you make it look so easy(I know that it isn't)

Here are a few more progress pic's. I still have a few small pieces to fill in but you should get the idea. I first made the new inner corner piece then I cut a thin strip, curved it to fit the door edge then spot welded it to the inner piece and hemmed the door edge to the outer skin. It has a nice almost factory look now and it is very Strong.

How many hours do you have in a day there? I work at home(doing what you're planning to do-restos&customs) and find it hard somedays to spend ANY time at all on my junk, never mind having 2 or 3 projects on the go!

Re: LFD's 4dr Tahoe Build

Well just an up date on the Hoe. I got it all DP90'd the other day and here it will sit until I build up my toy fund a bit. On a good note I sold my 70 2wd Blazer to Carter Hickman and with than money I will try and get the rest of my suspension so I can fill in the rear floor after the rear suspension is done and then drop in the 5.3/4L60E once the front is in. I also have a customer truck to get started on in the next few weeks, it is a 41 Chevy PU that will be getting a custom chassis built for it with IFS and IRS. That will also help fund this build.

Now just because I am out of money does not mean I am not out in the shop building cool stuff. I pulled my son's truck (51 F1 barn find) in the shop last week to put in it's suspension because the customer's truck will get the same set up and he wanted a ball park figure at what we are looking at so he can decide if paint is in the budget as well.

My son's truck was put in a barn in about 1962 and we bought it 2 yrs ago when we found out we were having our first kid. It WAS:lol: a completely stock truck with 46K on the ticker that was until last week. First thing I did was pull the front sheet metal, motor and trans and all the front suspension. Then I boxed the front frame and installed a TCI MII kit with tubular arms and air bags. I want this truck to drop into the weeds but still be able to drive the fair grounds this low. Then Saturday I pulled the bed and rear suspension to start on the IRS unit. For this I used a 95 T-Bird rear suspension set up because they are cheap, strong if you get the 8.8 unit and come wrapped in it's own sub frame making set up real easy. So here are a few pick for you guys that need your LFD fix.

Now I know it is not Chevy but this IRS unit would work out well in one of our trucks and here is a link to a How-To I did on it for another site.

That is a nice job on the ford. Keep your son interested. Mine lost interest in the 68 Camaro project and I sold it. Now I wish I would have kept it for myself. Good luck with it.

Wow, what a clean truck and what a difference!

The rear suspension looks like it was made for the truck.
