All the stuff that'll make or break a nice paint job is where you're at right now. Keep at it man!

Any updates on this build?! I've been trying to find that blue on one of our trucks to see what it looks like! It's such an awesome blue imo.

Where did you get that AC hole cover with the Heater core outlets. What covers the blower motor hole. Did you change the factory heater blower set under the dash? Thanks

I haven't forgotten about it, I just put it on hold for a minute so I can get my GMC on the road as my driver. With the BBC, this one won't be a driver (much)

I'm having a hard time figuring out which of your trucks I like better! too cool!

Very much appreciated BossMan. This one should be a beast when it's finished. Lots of internal goodies going on, I just hope it doesn't plow the front end too bad.

The engine mounts have been set back about .75" to help with this problem but still, it has a lot of metal between the fenders.

I hear you buddy, I hope all the suspension parts I threw at mine hoping it handles better doesn't go out the window because of the Big Block.

Mine is sitting WAY back in the frame rails. I had to modify the firewall to get it to clear. I think we can play around with Brake Bias to help with that 'Dump Truck' feel .. but still, it's not going to be an LS setup (YET :D ) But .. a 500hp LS motor will burn gas too. We'll see how it goes. .. but I'll fight getting rid of my Rat motor, kicking and screaming. LS if needed. I can always bump the spring up a little in the front .. or bag it / shockwaves, etc if it becomes a real issue.

I probably should have done that to mine before I started working on the firewall, oh well would have helped with radiator clearance as well. I only have 3" to mount electrics fans between the radiator and water pump pulley.

Re: 1969 C10 SWB Stepside - Big Block project

Guys: As bad as I hate to do this, my recent unforseen job situation is forcing me to sell one of my trucks. My GMC is closer to being finished, so the stepper has to go. I just thought I'd mention it in this post and give anyone who wanted it a heads up. It will come up for sale on the forums and likely eBay in the next couple weeks.

I'm going to put all the front sheet metal on it over the next couple days / week and get it cleaned up. I has been sitting in the garage for a bit so it just has dust on it.

For those of you who have followed the build, you know this truck will be awesome when it's finished. All the metal is really clean. The only things that are repro (Tri Plus) are the doors and tailgate. All the rest of the metal is super clean GM stuff. I searched the world over to find and I'm confident to say you won't find a cleaner, original GM 68 front clip.

This is a 69 cab, all the rust repair is done and seam sealed. Check out the pics. The rest of the truck is just a couple hours away from the sealer / base color stage. I have the inner fenders too. The only thing you'd need would be bed wood, strips, interior, bumpers, misc trim and finish painting. I have a good cupholder console I could throw in for a quick sale if you wanted to do buckets.

The engine is ready to fire, I will fire it up and test / tune it for you before you get it.

I will sell the truck with 15x8 / 15x6.5 rallys you see in the pics or the Billet Specialties, your choice.

It's officially for sale, I just need to do some clean up before I officially post it. With a paint job, and interior this truck is finished.

Asking $11,000 obo with the Billet wheels, or $8750 with the rallys. It would be very difficult to build this same truck for what I'm asking. I'm just trying to re-coup some of my money. Let me know if you, or you may know of someone who might be interested.

I have access to a roll back too, I can help with shipping if needed. My cell is 423-486-6760. Let me know if you have questions. I can tell you anything you want to know about the truck.

*** Just to note, the buckets and console from this build were used on my GMC Build ***

The price reflects it NOT having buckets but you take the truck, I have a good console core almost ready to be painted. .. goes with the truck if the price is reasonable. (close to asking price)

Sorry to hear you have to sell the stepper Chad, sometimes this happens in life. I had to sell my Red 72 SWB Fleet about 5 years ago because I needed the money, so I understand. Good luck with the sale buddy.

Yeah, I hate to see it go too but I really need to. My wife has been super cool about it but, sometimes you can just kinda tell it's time to let some toys go. No pressure from her, in fact she told me she didn't want me to sell it .. But, I just know it will help us should I need to go a different direction with my job.

I'm an IT guy and have been for about 21yrs now. I'm just sick of the stress. I'd really like to have my own shop and get a paint booth setup, etc. I really, really like painting. I could see myself doing it all day, every day.

Seriously.. I have the hands for it, patience, and work ethic. I could turn out some killer paint jobs if I just had somewhere to do it and a little money in savings, just incase. I'd need to buy EVERYTHING for my shop, compressor, etc.. so I'm just trying to prepare.

Life's short man. I'm sick of being unhappy and miserable at work. I want to do something related to cars. Sales, Paint and Body, Restoration .. It's truly where my heart is. I just happen to know how to network computers too.

Come on Raul.. Come get it man. :D

I have the rollback idling in the driveway :D

Once the weight is back on the front it will take a set. 68 front clip all blasted and PPG primed. Ready for final prime, block, seal, and paint. Then the real fun begins.

Choose your color! Theres 3-4k in metal work in this truck. Clean TN title. No suprises. You want it Al? :)

Kick ass build ... it's unfortunate that you have to sell unfinished.

I'm in a similar delema with my work ... I just am tired of it & cars/ trucks/race cars are in my blood. I've got more tools & equipment than most shops in my 2.5 home garage & want to jump out & do car/truck building.

Good luck with your venture. I'm sure it'll pay off in the end.

Just bumping this one back to the top. New Plan

This stepper will be finished. I have sold my grey Billet Specialties off of it, so for now it will just stay with truck rallys. 4/6 drop nothing crazy low and typical 15" wheels / tires. Nothing wrong with that at all but just more of an old school BBC look, we had even considered shop trucking it with a door logo, etc. We'll see how it pans out.

Hugger Orange, white 71-72 top and grill and more than likely black / white hounds tooth bench. Once it's finished up we'll sell it. I just don't want to give it away. They are harder to sell unfinished. As soon as the weather turns around I'm probably going to start lining things up for final block and sealer / paint. With an interior and paint this would be a killer truck.

Re: 1969 C10 SWB Stepside - Big Block project

Sounds like a good plan. I might just have your dad photoshop a shop logo once it's painted to show what you can do to it if the next owner wants.....I think you'll limit the market somewhat on a nice restored truck like that if you put a logo on it...easier to add one than to take one off ;)

I totally agree that it'll sell much more easily when finished than it will as a project. People don't appreciate projects as much and expect a deal...where someone looking for a finished truck doesn't want to put the time into the restoration so they wouldn't even consider a project...

Plus, with you and your dad doing the work on it and you having the majority of the parts already...it'll be a minimal investment for a nice return....and more time working with your dad which is PRICELESS!!!

Sounds like a good plan Chad. I know it's hard to sell a project that is incomplete. Some people don't have the vision of how it will turn out. Throw some paint and an interior in it and you will sell it in no time. Good luck with everything buddy.

Yep, I agree... we can finish the truck for the cost of paint and interior. We have almost everything else. Nothing wrong with a big block step side bulldozing the ground running rally wheels. Count me in!
