Re: Used Parts Build
Got the tank mocked up. Need to extend the frame a hair and build some mounts for the front.

Re: Used Parts Build
Took off early to get some work done. Took forever and didnt get much done....I hate drilling holes....
Extended my frame just a bit to fit my tank (bad pic) http://i20.photobucket.com/albums/b2...503_204235.jpg The brackets moved in a bit when I was welding and made it difficult to get the link in and out without muscling it so I added a little piece inside at the right distance and welded it up. http://i20.photobucket.com/albums/b2...503_175140.jpg Then spent forever with a hole saw. http://i20.photobucket.com/albums/b2...503_204157.jpg |
Re: Used Parts Build

Taking some measurements to narrow my rearend. Its 63.5'' from mounting face to mounting face. I have some mock up wheels but I am thinking of narrowing it 2 inches per side to give me more space. http://i20.photobucket.com/albums/b2...503_175130.jpg Finish drilling out the other side. http://i20.photobucket.com/albums/b2...8_143104_1.jpg My buddy down the street builds custom choppers for people as a side job. He stops by and points out **** I did wrong or what I should have done. He has a great eye for planning **** out. Just wish he'd stop by before I did ****..... Here is something he said I should have done. http://i20.photobucket.com/albums/b2...508_144109.jpg http://i20.photobucket.com/albums/b2...508_154936.jpg http://i20.photobucket.com/albums/b2...508_155008.jpg |
Re: Used Parts Build
Holess look good. But on your long watts bars why did you use what looks like 3-4 different sizes?

Re: Used Parts Build
The holes definitely add some character. They are a little random for my OCD, but look good.

Re: Used Parts Build
Went a bit OCD on my gas tank mount. Now I have to redo the front one to match....
http://i20.photobucket.com/albums/b2...510_185440.jpg Had to tack it outside while sitting on the ground, inverted, using my leg on the peddle. http://i20.photobucket.com/albums/b2...510_185445.jpg Welding the sides on http://i20.photobucket.com/albums/b2...510_200007.jpg Mounting tab http://i20.photobucket.com/albums/b2...510_205345.jpg Probably not necessary but makes it look more finished. http://i20.photobucket.com/albums/b2...510_215240.jpg Before and after! http://i20.photobucket.com/albums/b2...510_222206.jpg Weld shot http://i20.photobucket.com/albums/b2...510_222251.jpg |
Re: Used Parts Build
Way nicer than what I built for securing my tank. Now you're just showing off. :)

Re: Used Parts Build
Been busy with life stuff. Spent some time reassembling my rear suspension after I painted the frame. Tossed the wheels on and laid it out. It actually has a bit lower to go but with the front end so high up the brackets in the rear will hit first. I need to buy the rotors, bearings, etc for the front to reassemble it.

Re: Used Parts Build
Installed my bags and cycled the rear suspension a few times. No video yet though.
http://i20.photobucket.com/albums/b2...524_221025.jpg Dragged my bed into my garage to start reassembling and figuring out the mounts. Man I need a bigger garage and a helping hand sometimes. |

Re: Used Parts Build
Got a really good deal on some DLOE valves off instagram:
http://i20.photobucket.com/albums/b2...528_165645.jpg Got a new tool and did a practice piece before I started working on my bed: http://i20.photobucket.com/albums/b2...529_195510.jpg http://i20.photobucket.com/albums/b2...529_195539.jpg Started laying out the new floor/mounts: http://i20.photobucket.com/albums/b2...529_184911.jpg Started installing the nutserts: http://i20.photobucket.com/albums/b2...529_195500.jpg Need some bolts so I couldnt finish it. Started working on some of the plates that I will use to cap the ends on the bed mounts. Hopefully it will look good. http://i20.photobucket.com/albums/b2...529_210819.jpg |
Re: Used Parts Build
I have set a lot of "nutserts" or "thinserts" being from aviation background...since leaving the career, finding them for reasonable price was an issue until I found this Ebay seller
http://www.ebay.com/itm/291682191947 check them out...Joe |
