Ugh why is FB marketplace so popular now? I refuse to FB and I keep getting shown the deals I can't nab by my friends trying to get me back in lol. This is a social media as I get!

Soundmound, Facebook is kind of like dumpster diving, or hunting for buried treasure. I'm about to wade back in there myself, because Craigslist doesn't have anything anymore hardly. I think the metaphor works whether you talk about treasure hunting on the ocean floor or digging for buried treasure. To some degree, you're pawing around in dirt and other people's garbage, looking for something worthwhile. A lot like fb. |

Seems it’s been awhile since I have posted anything about Big Red. It has been a crazy year, to say the least.
I had to get new garage door openers, the one for Big Reds bay has been fried for several years now. If I need to open it, it’s pulling the cord and opening it manually. So I broke down and both replaced. Wow these things are super quiet! But anyways, to get the openers changed out, I needed to get Big Red out of the garage for the day. It started right up, had a lot of white smoke for the first start up. So I backed it out and let it run for a bit and added some Seafoam. Next start up, it hardly smoked at all. While it was uncovered I swapped out the overflow bottle. I found a NOS AC Delco awhile back, but never got it installed. It in there now! |

Haven’t posted anything for awhile. Been working on a lot of seats & belts for everyone.
I do have Big Red up For Sale. Not that I’m really trying hard, lol. Just have it listed here on the Forum, and on my FB Page for the seats & belts I restore. I got her uncovered today, to get her out and stretch her legs. First time this year. She fired right up and purrs like a wild kitten. Took her out and did some country road driving on this beautiful day. Stopped and got some ice cream. For Sale Thread: https://67-72chevytrucks.com/vboard/...61#post9209161 |

Thursday evening I went to a local Cruise In. They have it every Thursday starting in May to September. It was an absolutely beautiful evening!
617 vehicles in attendance. They said that was a new record! |
Re: My 86 build
Just finished reading this all the way through. Kind of odd that your truck has both the grille lights and bumper lights though. Always thought that was a one or the other kind of deal like the single-headlight trucks being either under the headlight or in the bumper.

Sold Big Red a couple weeks ago. She is now called Cherry Pie. I know the new owners, we grew up together as next door neighbors. He is a classic car/truck enthusiast, and goes to a lot of local shows. So Cherry Pie will get the attention it deserves. Sad to see it go, but it was time. It just didn’t make sense of this beautiful truck sitting in the garage all the time.

My buddy Jeff only kept the truck for 6 weeks. He took her to about 24 shows in that 6 weeks, and won multiple awards & trophies. He even took her to the Good Guys Show in Columbus.
But he sold her and now she will be residing in Virginia. |
Re: My 86 build
Still a super nice truck. Did I miss, what's the next project?

Still enjoy going to the shows. Went to Richmond IN for the Midwest Squarebody Gathering. Got to meet several of the people I have done jobs for. This is one truck I’ve been dying to see in person. Full restoration of a 1980. I made my contribution to his build with the seatbelts I restored for him. And then then a little shopping at the Swap Meet |

Re: My 86 build
I was catching up on the last year or so of your thread and did not expect to hear about the truck going down the road. Wow, that is a big surprise. Glad you are going to hang around and still do the seat belts. I always appreciated your nearly excruciating attention to detail, haha. That truck benefited a lot by your ownership. Sounds like you just got it easier to get the out of the garage with the new door opener, and then you turned loose of it. I hope that you are enjoying your relatively recent retirement and finding plenty of things to do.

I was just feeling pretty guilty about never making the time to get the truck out and enjoying it. I don't have any regrets letting it go, it was time. Just pretty excited that someone has it that's getting a lot of enjoyment out of it, and its getting a lot of attention! |
