Looks like a scene of spectators watching a nuke test in the Mojave Desert....circa early sixties....?
I'm thinkin there aren't too many guys with a picture of their sweet '55 hot rod with a mushroom cloud in the back ground.

I don't think that's a Canadian thing rather a bunch of parts to make one. Bed side rails from a short box mounted on a long box.

Bet if you flipped that Chevy with the camper shell over on it's wheels, you could still drive it away no problems accept minor things.

I found a photo of the GM Dealership that originally sold my '62 long stepside. Beny Motors in Medicine Hat Alberta. Photo appears to have been taken around the mid 70's. You can see the back part of a '67-'72 Chevy truck with camper body on the bed, looks like a mid 70's Buick Le Sabre in the foreground. I believe the dealership was moved from Downtown Medicine Hat to the Trans Canada Hwy in Medicine Hat in the late 70's or early 80's. I have another photo (will try to find & post it) of the new location dated 1981. From what I know, that location is still a GM Dealership but under different name & management. Any Medicine Hat guys on this thread who can chime in with more info please do. My truck also had the dealer nameplate still mounted to the hood when I bought it almost 8 years ago now. I reinstalled in on the rear bumper after my restoration.

Heres a 1963 chevy truck with a Hammerli Magirus Deutz pumper fire truck bed. Made by Hammerli in Lenzburg, Germany.

I like the tire/rim combo on this one. Also note that they mounted the side view mirror on the hood.

Teaser alert...just called my 80 yr old Mom and 84 yr old Dad and said send original pictures of our truck that I sat in at 5 yrs old when Dad brought her home from the dealer and I drove in high school and college...pulled her out of a barn 4 yrs ago and trailered back to my home. We'll see the difference when I get the pics from the 60s....here's now after 4 yrs of weekend work...trailering her home

Here is a picture of my 66 C10 taken back in the early 70's. The original owner sent me a whole bunch of pictures last week. The truck was a service station truck almost all of it's life. It was originally orange and when Amoco took over the station they made him paint the truck Blue.

Ricky,
That is a great looking truck with an interesting history.

I get the feeling that the pic at Three Mile Island (or not) was the earliest.
The shot in the yard near the mfg home looks like the right side front fender is showing some blistering prior to the rust-out.
That truck looked pretty fresh in the pic near the NPP.
It looked great in the latest.

Here's the family GMC and camper. I went on many trips in this rig. It's what got me loving this body style truck. Check out the dual spotlights my dad installed. He had added a few other custom touches, too.

What happened to the truck?

My dad was never one to hang on to a vehicle very long. I'm sure he traded it in on his next rig. He always said "I'm paying payments on a truck I might as well be driving a new one."
