Re: Crash's 72 K10
Not a lot of work done this weekend.. My daughter turned 15, so we spent some time hanging out, and eating…
I did pick up a set of seats for mockup (Thanks to Tanner at B&R Auto salvage in Tulsa – Great people to work with). Not sure if I will keep these, I like the style and the bowtie emblem in the middle of the seats. The leather is nice except for the driver’s side bottom, and the cloth inserts are dirty.. I will clean them up and see what I think. The seats are powered and they work very well. I wanted to mount the seats utilizing the front seat mounting location (The raised area that the original seats mounted to). In addition, I wanted to reinforce the mounting system due to the integrated seatbelts. I was more concerned with the rear mounting system than the front. The front is naturally reinforced due to the nature of the raised area. The rear is flat with no natural support. I did use the orignal rear mounting location for two bolts on each side of the truck. In addition I was able to tie the mounts to the floor support system in two places. http://i284.photobucket.com/albums/l...t/P4060649.jpg http://i284.photobucket.com/albums/l...t/P4060647.jpg http://i284.photobucket.com/albums/l...t/P4060646.jpg http://i284.photobucket.com/albums/l...t/P4060645.jpg http://i284.photobucket.com/albums/l...t/P4080654.jpg http://i284.photobucket.com/albums/l...t/P4080651.jpg http://i284.photobucket.com/albums/l...t/P4080650.jpg The area under the floor will be reinforced with plates and strapping. I will post those pictures next week after I have welded them in. I also finished the install of the fuel lines for the new gas tank. http://i284.photobucket.com/albums/l...t/P4080652.jpg Last, but not least, the vintage air system arrived. I have not opened the boxes yet, but I will next week to fab up the mounting system for it. http://i284.photobucket.com/albums/l...t/P4060648.jpg Not sure about the seats. I love the way the feel and look, expect for the headrest. I don’t really like the headrest in the back window look, but they are what they are, and they are safer in a rear end collision (if the floor mounts hold ;)). |
Re: Crash's 72 K10

Re: Crash's 72 K10
I just read through your complete build. Awesome.... Your doing a great job and what a way to pay attention to detail in such a short period. I am tuned in..

Re: Crash's 72 K10
That's some nice looking seats. I think those will work out good for you. I really like the integrated seat belts too. Nice tank and V/A kit.

Yes, the cup holder appears to be in the way. I need to mount the cab to the frame to make sure.. If it hits, I will remove the cupholder.... Have a great day.. |

Hey Mark, Very nice work on the seat mounts. They look super sturdy and well planned. That V/A kit looks good too. I see they have made a bunch of changes to it since my old unit was made. I really like the bulkhead connection. It should clean up the connections. Keep up the hard work.

I have the old cab loaded on the SeaDoo trailer.. That’s right.. Hillbilly all the way.. Do you have room for it in the boneyard? If so, will you be around tomorrow? Hope you didn’t get any damage from the storms last night.. or any from those coming later tonight… |
Re: Crash's 72 K10

Re: Crash's 72 K10
My lovely wife cleaned up the seats yesterday. They look a lot better, but the fabric is worn in a few places and the leather is cracked as well. The seats are somewhat broke down on the sides, but they are used seats, so some wear is to be expected. I am still not sure this is the set for me.

Once again thanks Mike. I then mounted the gas pedal to the mount. I still need to finish fabbing up the pedal. http://i284.photobucket.com/albums/l...t/P4150679.jpg http://i284.photobucket.com/albums/l...t/P4150678.jpg http://i284.photobucket.com/albums/l...t/P4150677.jpg http://i284.photobucket.com/albums/l...t/P4150676.jpg http://i284.photobucket.com/albums/l...t/P4150680.jpg http://i284.photobucket.com/albums/l...t/P4150681.jpg http://i284.photobucket.com/albums/l...t/P4150682.jpg This week I will start gathering the supplies and tools need for the body work and primer for the cab. This is all foreign to me, so it might take awhile. |
Re: Crash's 72 K10
Killer work on the firewall Mark. You definetly the metal fab figured out. You sure you aren't holding out? I swear you have been welding all your life man. I like how the seats turned out. You have really brought this cab out of the dumps......
Bodywork is easy compared to all that rust repair. |
Re: Crash's 72 K10

Re: Crash's 72 K10
Didn’t get a lot done this weekend.. Installed the rockers, started painting the bottom of the cab (ran out of POR15), and finished up on filling the holes in the firewall.
http://i284.photobucket.com/albums/l...t/P4220686.jpg http://i284.photobucket.com/albums/l...t/P4220687.jpg http://i284.photobucket.com/albums/l...t/P4220688.jpg http://i284.photobucket.com/albums/l...t/P4220689.jpg I did buy $300 worth of epoxy primer, activator, reducer, Paint thinner, primer gun, and body filler.. I have some surface rust that I will need to re-blast and then shoot the primer. Thought I would also share an interesting event from the weekend. The wonderful little fellow below fell from the insulated ceiling in my shop Saturday. He was after some birds that had made a nest in the ceiling. He landed about a foot away from where my wife was sitting just a few minutes before. I thought about leaving him in the shop, but was afraid someone would hurt him or themselves, so I played with him for a little while and then let him go in the woods behind the house.. http://i284.photobucket.com/albums/l...t/IMG_5133.jpg http://i284.photobucket.com/albums/l...t/IMG_1749.jpg |

Re: Crash's 72 K10
I know what you mean on bodywork, I am working on my whole truck now afetr my bodyman changed his mind and rented his shop out, so trying hard to cut out inner/outer rockers and also cab corners and reinstall all in straight as a bodyman. Engine work, easy in my sleep even but body work wow what an effort, yours looks real nice, sure is slow though isn't it.
