So, I pulled the entire crossmember, first to pull out that angle iron that the PO welded in. And since I now have it out, I can bolt it back in, upside down if you will. This will give me more driveline clearance on the top side of the crossmember. And since I have dropped the rear end four inches, it should be better for driveline clearance. Make sense?? If it doesn't work out, I can flip it back over without much work.

So now that the drive shaft is installed, I think the decision to roll the cross member over makes even more sense.

And here is the E-Stopp in Action.... Once it applies the parking brake, you can not move the truck!!!

Nothing new in this picture, I just liked the look with the light inside. Thought it was cool.

Back window.... Not so much so.
The gasket is too big for this original back window. So my glass guy is going to cut me a new, just a bit smaller, back window.

Today is the day!!! We cranked the motor without gas to make sure we had oil pressure and to make sure the motor would turn over. Added some gas. And here is the results. This is the video of the very first attempt to start this motor.

I decided that the carb needed a rebuild since the motor would not rev quickly. And since this carb had been sitting for like the past five years or so. Here is my first go at a carb rebuild.

And the after. She fired right back. And idled down nicely. Have to some more tuning but she runs a ton better. And now the motor will rev!!

Great Build! Just read the whole thing! How much clearance do you have on the bottom side of the driveshaft with the flipped crossmember?

That was a dang good question. And I didn't know. So I went out and took a picture.

Looks to be about an inch and a half.

I did four inches as well. But you will need a longer transmission than stock or the driveline will be too long. Mine was 72".

That edlebrock had some issues with jetting and such. And it really wasn't the right carb for this motor.

So.... Holley (quick fuel) 780 CFM!!!!

Got the bed sides back on her. The drivers side isn't bad. The passenger side is probably beyond repair.
