Re: Project "Just an Old Truck"

I wonder if you could run a Porterbuilt tubular trailing arm crossmember,... and position it 1" forward?
How much do you think it is off?
hot trux has a set of 1.5" lowering blocks on his truck,... and that kinda helps kick the rearend forward.

Shhh... Be quiet.. Do you hear that? What's that sound behind you?

Oh it's the sound of a snow ball effect starting to roll. Lol. Rear disc, new exhaust lay out, just a little bit lower.... Next thing you know

If my kids would stop this whole, "I need to eat 3 times a day and take hot showers at night" stuff I could afford to buy all the cool stuff!

This is kinda what I was thinking too, move the crossmember forward. Now that you post yours, I'm sure mine will have the same issue. What to do.....

I'd like to have the Porterbuilt piece, and I should probably order one and a notch too. (Damn you Jaun!) I just hate waiting... and they are way backed up. Anyway, I need to handle the rear end first, so I'll flip the trailing arm brackets first and see how it does.

Hart Rod,... you might want to set the stepside bed on your Porterbuilt chassis.
You will see the wheel base will be off also.
I found this with my PB stepside.

The rear wheel "opening" on a stepside bed is 1" farther foward,... than it is on a fleetside bed.
I found this out the hard way.

Keith told me last night that Stella's trailing arm heims are bottomed out completely to correct this. He even removed the jam nuts. I don't think Rob is going to use a step bed though...

The "extra" crossmember is for my 68. Plus, I'm switching my son's truck to a fleetside....:metal:.

You just don't get patina like that every day.

Love to own this truck or another stepside truck.
