I know of a shop in Minnesota that did this conversion. Used to visit it often. The truck they built was called the Longhorn by CVI. Maybe the name is territorial. I think they might still have some jump seats and windows. I do still have a brochure on them.

I always liked this one. It was made by a local body guy. It was a 76 long fleet and short step combined. I thought about getting it from him, but it went underwater during Katrina and it really messed it up bad on the internal structures.

He and the truck are long gone now. I know he moved to Florida about a year after Katrina. Not sure who ended up with the truck, Sure wish I had the money back then for it.

The metal around the windows is just flat sheetmetal and should be easy to dublicate. The most complex curve is the body line below the window which is just the sheet metal that was removed when the bed was shortened.

I have seen the truck in person, the rust is an easy fix and all x-cabs had a skim coat of bondo from the conversion process. From what I have heard from those who know, this one is done by the best conversion company of the five.

That all looks like it would be a n easy fix, looks pretty complete otherwise.

I now own that 1985 red extended cab dually, the owner didnt take good care of it they tried to change out the gauges, and dash also the carb back fired and caught the insulation on fire. But no worries im gonna save it :metal:

Re: Square body extended cabs

MtTenery are you going to keep that seat? I have the white crew cab dually and I want a period correct seat for the rear. The one that's in it is one of those benches that breaks down into a bed, not very comfortable at all to sit in.

@Palf70Step I started on replacing the burnt harness and replacing the carpet but im in college so its really slow going, @wiggins yes im keeping it original except that im upgrading it to a 4x4, cummins, with a 5spd transmission.

Re: Square body extended cabs

OK, good luck. I rebuilt a 68" step side while I was in college. Took me 3 years and every spare minute and dollar I made to finish it. Still have that truck, prob be buried in it lol
