hey 87lowrider what drop is that?

Air hydraulics or static?

Looks PERFECT!!!!!!

freaking beautiful truck man.

87Lowrider 07-15-2007 12:57 PM

Re: How about some pictures of '73-'87 short beds

Static!

Shorter Springs and 2.5" drop Spindles in the front and a couple links out in the rear. 265 / 18's in the rear and 235 / 18's in the front. Eagle wheels. SCREAMS BIGBLOCK don't it?... one day!

Re: How about some pictures of '73-'87 short beds

how much shorter coils though 3 inch or 2 or what?

And links out in the back? what a 4 link conversion or leafs removed or what?

I think it's got a perfect stance.

87Lowrider 07-15-2007 08:11 PM

Re: How about some pictures of '73-'87 short beds

Thanks! If definetely draws attention wherever I drive it.

Spindles were 2 1/2"
Coils were 2" shorter (I believe)
I'll double check on the leafs, it was already lowered when I bought it in May.

What I do know for sure is that from the lower control arms to the ground is between 2 1/2 and 3 inches. Is that considered "slammed"?

benoit454 07-16-2007 12:04 AM

Re: How about some pictures of '73-'87 short beds

I would think so.

Most of the static rear drops are either removed leafs, less then 4-5 for small springs or less then 8 for the heavy duty ones, some had.

Longer rear shackles or flipped hangers up front, if the front of the spring is below the frame it's stock, if it's way up towards the top then it's a drop hanger.

Then of course if the leafs are under the axle, it's a flip kit.

That's a cool truck, wheels fit it real good. Love the scenery too, it's just awesome to not see a single building on the horizon :D

Re: How about some pictures of '73-'87 short beds

took those up at the Town Reservoir here in Walla Walla, Wa. used to be a nice town, but has had too much of an influx of rich Californians building wineries and inflating the land values. definitely a beautiful area but the people kinda spoil it.. lol

I had thought about taking a pic overlooking the town from the hills, but thats a Gravel Road and I just finished polishing the rims after three years of neglect by my brother.

Overall its in pretty good shape other than paint and minor body issues, two minor rust spots, dents dings and a few holes needing filled. It was my brother's Ex-wife's truck and she hauled her 5th wheel horse trailer with it. The hitch mounted behind the rear tire wells and the back corners of the wells have been notched. It started life as a 6-cyl which has been replaced with a 305 out of my brother's old Chevy 4x4.

Nice, that pic looks good.

It had snow tires on it then, that's why we bought new wheels and tires. You should try one of the newer ones with the chrome wheels and white letter tires on it.

If you can't use thoose I have more and can get more.

I'd really appreciate it. I'd love to drop it and love seeing the dropped/lowered trucks on here.

My car is the one with the 2" lowering coils in the front, and the rear of course got a 1" lift, gotta have that redneck rake :D The truck is actually fairly level, and the coils are some weird ones as the whole thing sits higher than any other 2wd half-ton I've seen, yet they are sooo rusted out that I bet they have been in there longer than I have been around... now here's the weird thing - my truck is a normal half-ton, and not a "Big 10", and it originally came with a 250 six-line and a 3-spd stick - if now with the much heavier 350-350 combo the tired springs still manage to keep it so high, back in the days when new poor thing must have been riding on its upper bump-stops! Here's a fairly recent pic of it, and those are 32s in the front and 33s in the rear:
