I just read this whole thing. My eyes hurt and I have to go shower of all the silliness. Good fun and great work. But now I feel lazy.

hey Dave, after you upload the pic, click on the paperclip again and click the attached pic (or insert all if you have multiple pics), that will insert it/them into the text and get rid of the attached image box around your pic

yeah, what you do is go to edit your sig, then click on the link dealy http://67-72chevytrucks.com/vboard/i...createlink.gif paste your link in the new window, hit ok, it puts it in your text field with the inside text highlighted, just replace the highlighted text with what you want it to show.....

daverod's build thread

like that

here is what it looks like without the last bracket

[URL="http://67-72chevytrucks.com/vboard/showthread.php?t=336798"]daverod's build thread[/URL

you can change the color, size, font, and make your text bold and italic like so....

Re: 1965/73 Cheap Build Up

Did a little work on the truck this VERY HOT weekend. :devil: It was 110 here.
I welded up the hole in the blazer gas tank. I only had one small explosion :haha: Then I pressurized it and sprayed with soapy water. Then looked for bubbles. It was OK. Since I took the sensor out I could see the inside of the tank. Thank God there was no rust. But it had some rocks & pebbles in it. Also a gas can plastic spout laying on the bottom. :lol: I got them all out.

http://belair.smugmug.com/photos/595615335_AbAYd-M.jpg

Next I Looked at the 2 engines I had for it. One is the 350 from the 73. I know nothing about this engine. I took the intake off to look inside, valves & lifters. It looked clean, but old. The engine didn't look like it was taken very good care of. I laid some of the fancy stuff I've been collection on the 73 Motor. Looks pretty good even with a dirty engine.
http://belair.smugmug.com/photos/595615571_94KCX-M.jpg

So I tore into the other 350 I had. I know the complete history with this engine because It came in my 1990 New Snap-on Box Van that I had to buy when I worked for Snap-on. It developed low compression at 130,000, but didn't burn any oil, and never leaked a drop of oil. It was a strong engine until the bad compression. I pulled lots of steep hills with the Van that was always over loaded. All it needs is a valve job. It was faster for me to install a new engine from the Chevy Dealer. It was only $1,800, and I was back on the road selling by Monday morning. I think I'm going to build this engine. BTW it's also a 4 bolt main.

Re: 1965/73 Cheap Build Up

Now I have to sell more crap to pay for the engine parts & machining. I'm going to have the block soaked, and get it power honed. Then a Edelbrock Performer RPM cam kit to go with the manifold I already have. I will port & port match the intake & exhaust ports. I do this with every Chevy I build. What I do works. I still have to take the valves out to see what condition they're in. Hopefully I can just lap them in. If not more money for machine work. It sucks when you don't have the tools. I always did my own valves, and used the shop equipment from where I was working at the time.

I would like to. I don't have the money for that. The only thing I'll be stroking is...., well lets say use your imagination. :haha:
