i got the same year truck , i'm thinking about having a metal guy adapt me a grille wit an insert like this :

im wondering about it myself , the eaziest way would be to use premade parts from somewhere on the truck like the trimpieces but there not deep enough to give the desired effect a second cut and shut grillesuround only goes deep on the inside so im still thinking

Did you remove the springs from your hood hinges? Possibly to prevent the hood from bending? I'm asking because I see the little hood support rod.

I had a fiberglass hood and sold it but found the lighter springs later on and thought it would be good to use with the bending problem on the steel hood, they will hold it up but a good wind could blow it down, so to make sure nothin bad happens I made a prop for it,

found some pics a while back from a homemade gasstrut conversion that worked pretty good , will have to hunt for those pics though

I got the springs with the fiberglass hood, I'm sure you can buy them from anybody who sells fiberglass hoods , If I would change the hood hinges it would be to a setup like SMOKEDAT has on his truck, those are nice !

I was finally able to take my truck to the truckfest event at Summit Racing, had a great time was even able to park beside another square ,

Thanks, I still hang around just havent done any other work to it worth an update , but I did get to drive it over the weekend for a special event, I told my wife years ago that we would get married after the truck was done so we could drive off in it , well since it was done... we did it ! the weather was just perfect, worked out great made a 30 mile trip to a nearby cabin afterwards where it spent the first night outside in 10 years, here are some pics ,

Went to a show at a local gmc dealer ,we got picked for the top 10 , my lil guy was excited as could be !
