Got the engine and transmission sat in place so I could see my ride height... Is it just me or does it look like the front wheels and tires are a bit far back in the wheel wells?
Found out the headers I bought are not gonna work, and that air intake I have Barely allowed the hood to close... cant be a 1/4 inch between it and the hood... But it fits.
Gotta make a plate for the hydroboost setup to mount tight to the firewall now.

So much more to do... The bed had a ways to go as well.

I was told I have the upper control arms reversed... that would explain the weird look of the wheels being a bit far back in the wheel wells... Guess what Im doing today instead of what I was gonna do?

lol.. yeah... what I wonder is why even after fixing that it leans a little bit to the driver side? New springs all the way around.... Ive read that these trucks have that issue I guess... does yours lean?

Well I got the upper control arms swapped around to the right sides... Duh..
And finished up on the roll pan and grille and mounted the front spoiler from the 69 Camaro today. Pretty much the bed is all thats left on the body work now and going back over everything with a fine tooth comb and doing some more block sanding and she will be ready for some color...

The support rods that come with it dont work on the truck, so I have to come up with something for that, but its just bolted to the roll pan as far as that goes. Once i get some rods made for supports Ill do some pics

Just about got the bed floor out and all other bolts holding the bed together are loose or soaking in WD-40. Ill try to find some help next weekend pulling the rest of it apart so I can finish up on the body work on the sides, get them covered on the back insides with the Master Coating and get the new front. Ill have to get all new cross members for a wood floor and then start working on getting it back together. What a PITA this part is...
Ill be fabing up something for a fuel fill also.. still undecided as to where it will go... Maybe behind the tail light or on top of the left rear corner, but Im not putting it in the bed floor. Gotta take the tank to an aluminum guy to put a new fill tube on pointing in what ever direction I decide to put the filler...

I consider this a score from the swap meet today... Now to get them tires off and get them blasted and coated and get my other tires on them. I think they might just go with the theme of the truck... maybe. Ive always like the turbine wheels and to find a full staggered set is rare... 10" in back and 8" in front.

Still not too sure about them. Wonder what doing them completely black would look like? Doing them the orange body color would probably be a bit much, but all black might work... thoughts?

Re: Blood Sweat and Tears.. 67 Build Thread

I think they would look good with the inner ribs either orange or black and the outside natural aluminum .

Wonder what they would look like with a full polish job? No paint...

Wheels with gloss black inside the turbine and satin black on the outer face. 1/8 color match stripe around the bead lip.

Re: Blood Sweat and Tears.. 67 Build Thread

So far for this weekend I managed to get the rest of the bed torn down. Right now Im fighting with a tin can issue in the big flat area if front of the wheel well. Im trying the heat shrink trick and not having much luck... getting pretty frustrated and may just scrap that bed side... :cuss::banghead::m7:

Re: Blood Sweat and Tears.. 67 Build Thread

I had the same dealio going on and also tried the heat/quench thing. I ended up making some small relief cuts with a thin disk, then welded them up. The oil canning was gone but the panel was really out of shape by then. I ended up cutting most of that out when I cut it down to short bed, so glad I did. I still have some good slabs of filler on both sides. I have to go with what I've got if I stand a chance at finishing the build. Keep plugging man, you'll get there!
I dig the wheels too! The 80's called and they want their Turbine's back  They go really well with the look you're after. I think body color between the ribs and the rest natural. If you could polish those natural surfaces that'd be cool but I bet it'd be a ton of work and then high maintenance. Are the outer lips in good shape? Curb rash or oxidation? They look pretty sweet in the pictures and the 8/10 stagger is perfect! Clean them up to natural, paint between the ribs, then clear coat them.
