First try, as bat man says in the Lego movie. I love it when a plan comes together and all works. Threw in some decking cut offs and it looks perfect. Now pull it all apart and paint all the pieces.

Re: 67 long box
Thanks xeen . I'm enjoying this build. I like to be a little different, but not over done. My mind would have led me off on a wild total radical, maybe next one, but this ones my daily driver and to the cottage.

Brake fluid in and bled only 4 leaks. Rear end filled, engine oil in. Forgot the anti-freeze but tomorrow will do. Greased it all. I can fit the bed on now the brakes are done, much easier with box off and two of the leaks where at the rear flex coupler. Bed rails all painted and started on the front bed board mounting angle that had to bolt through between the cab. Cap screws through the front and the holes going down are cap screw holes with welded in nuts. I can screw down all the bed bars from the top.

Re: 67 long box
Great ideas all coming together. Very nice!

I think I'm happy with the side angle to hold the edge of the boards, now I can run bolts through the outside edge and follow around the inner fender to complete the look. I had to cut off a half inch of the edge to fit in and lost the groove.

Stone guarded sprayed in the bottom of the bed sides, inner and outer fenders. Should make it quieter.

This is the plane my neighbor built that was on the trailer. Nice job.

Re: 67 long box
How did you come up with your sway bar? Just curious because I have the ability to do something similar i just never thought of doing it myself. What material tubing and size did you use. Did you find info on how much torsion is needed to twist the tubing and then increase the leverage by making those long mounts. I think its cool and its just one more thing you can say you did yourself.

Put the last fluid in and it runs. Sounds great to hear that run again, it's tough to through some parts of the build but the pay off is coming.

The truck looks great, all your hard work is paying off, I bet you are excited to be at this point, so close to being able to drive it.

Drove it up and down the street for the first time. That felt great and it felt great. Small exhaust leak manifold to pipe no big problem. Start putting on the box now.

It all fits in and on. I lovin this look with the composite and flat bar. You can't even tell the bed was raised 2 inches with the tailgate mod. Undecided on the wheel house bolt edge, I might put a strip over it with cap screws through. Put the tail lights in and with a few grounding issues they all work.

Re: 67 long box
It's coming together nice eh?! Looks really good and I'm loving the bed work. Composite looks really good in there. Keep on givin er! :metal:

Re: 67 long box
Just found this thread a few days ago and just got caught up today.
The truck is looking sick! And it looks as though you are fairly close to me (I'm in N3Y 4K6). I have yet to start my tear-down on my inherited '67 LWB Fleet (Babe is her name). I'm hoping it will turn out even half as nice as yours has! :metal: |

The bumper looks rusty and ugly, but I like it on there, the wife doesn't.

Re: 67 long box
Hmm I can dig the patina idea but what the hell be a contrarian.
How about a nice Metallic Silver on both bumpers, headlight bezels and the grill, perfect, glossy and clean, no faux patina. Maybe consider replacing the rear bumper with a paintable sport model. |

With the help of a few buds we put the glass in and tossed the hood on. A thanks going out to Canuckvetter for the cig lighter looks perfect. I have to paint the ashtray I don't like it grey, looks undone.

Re: 67 long box
the color of the bed wood is fantastic. i love it.
i also like the sport bumper idea. i have the same dilemma with a 71 patina project. i have a really straight white patina front bumper, and gray step bumper on the rear. i've been trying to decide whether to leave it alone, paint it white, or find a patina sport bumper. |
Re: 67 long box
I not totally sold on the bumper but it is the factory one. I can always change it later. The composite boards came with that weathered look with the black grains in the grey. They look like an old barn board or bed wood aged.
