Thanks iriereggaeman...Even "tucked-in" those big ones vibrated badly and were starting to tear-up the passenger side door. Besides, with the size and color of "OUR" Suburbans...other drivers will make room!:ack:

Passenger door has been bulged-out at the holes and it crackled the paint on the top three...but I've got some fitment issues with this side as well due to previous repairs by original owner. Entire drivers side has never been hit and is super straight. :hmm: May be the reason he put on the large mirrors???

I got a little more ambitious today...thought I'd quickly pull out my grill to clean-up a few things, and boy, did that turn into a can of worms! The bright side after taking off much more than I thought I would have to, I can easily access my radiator core support body mounts that I received from GMC Pauls. Unfortunately, the Body Mount Kit is back-ordered!

Question for those more knowledgable than me...is the grill surround normally pop-riveted in place as mine was?

It has likely been changed out at some point. They are riveted from the factory but not with that style pop rivet. Factory ones have no hole.

Did my radiator core support frame cushions today...took a while but pretty straight forward. Side by side shows how compressed the upper cushions were. 20 years ago, the original owner must have taken the easy route as the bottom cushions appear to have been changed before, but not the uppers or bolts!

Here's the finished product with a little black paint added to hide the "Never-Seize" that gets everywhere!

A bit of advice...if your radiator core support cushion set comes with square washers that look like these, don't use them. The square hole is a little bit too large and the carriage bolt shoulder spun inside of it. The hole in the original washer fit the shoulder of the new bolts perfectly. Also, the originals have the square hole "off-set" for a reason...which is to keep the entire washer from spinning around. I had both problems while I was assembling the first side ending up doing it 3 times. Use the original square washers to avoid this issue.

Not sure I drove mine in 2018 and definitely didn’t in ‘19 yet.. but, DW’s late model possibly blew a head gasket yesterday (radiator overflow can full of oil) so she’ll need to use my daily, which means the ol Sub gets duty. A little time on the charger and a couple dribbles of fuel down the carb and whammo! Running and not sounding too bad. Topped off the air pressure, evicted an army of spiders and started a basic pre trip inspection. We’ll know by tonight if it works out as well as hoped

Sucks about your late model pukin a head gasket but happy to hear your old Burb will see some miles. Did ya have any luck with the seat swap?

The body is finally back on the frame! Best of all, I freed up space in my garage so I can park in there this winter.
Now I'll be back to metal work.
Probably time to start a build thread...

Finally put new seatbelt in...six out of the nine being 3 point shoulder straps for the grandkids! The belts will be coming out again when I replace the carpet and have the original seats reupholstered...so I'll paint the brackets at that time...but for now, they're working great!

I never thought of mounting the retractors there. I haven't mounted mine yet.

I mounted the front one's to the lower part of the B-pillar

My fronts already had the retractors installed by PO which made that part of installing the new ones a lot easier because he used really nice "L" brackets that I reused. They mount to the floor between the "B-pillar" and inline with the seat back...but they appear to use a factory mounting point as the nut under the frame seems to be factory welded in (???in case someone ordered optional 3 points up front???). The retractors mounted with different amounts of difficulty depending on which row of seats I was working on...with the middle row being the hardest (shorter seat brackets)...but all in all, it was pretty straight forward.

The top rail has plastic plugs threaded into the seatbelt anchor points exactly where they are needed...as does the "B-pillar". The seatbelt vendor knew exactly which bolt thread to supply as well as the bolt being "shouldered" for the top swivel and perfect length/fit. The vendor said in all his years, he had never seen any '67 to '72's with optional 3 points installed by the factory, yet they were set up for them! Lucky us!!!

That is one nice addition that my 67 doesn't have. Definitely lucky for you. But less than optimal for me as not only dont I have the nice attachment points you do I also didn't learn any cool trick to get them attached either. :lol:
Maybe you have a late run truck that was pulled in to engineering to do testing.
Congratulations on your nice easy installation it looks good.

Wow...now I want to know when they started readying burbs for the 3 points? Maybe a new thread entitled: Does your Suburban have anchor points in top rail? If so, what year?

Wish I could help you figure out how to get those anchors up there! Seems like a lot of work, though!
