On my 62 I originally dropped it around 2 inches with torsion bars and 2 inch drop spindles. I have a 5 inch drop in the rear and I would not try to tow anything with it. If you do you should probably use bags in the rear just to make sure you don’t bottom out.

It's getting close to being on the road. Sanity has 2 1/2" spindles and 1" coils in front and 5" drop coils in the rear.

What forestb said above is sound advice. My '62 was just done with torsion bars, and no drop spindles (it was a C-20). It was also c-notched at the rear, done by a shop and not a bolt on kit given the x frame as forestb highlighted.

Not sure what the drop measured in at, but I was happy with how it handled.

Not sure on either of those, sorry. I bought it how it was, but reckon it was down 2 to 3 inches in the front and the rear was low thanks to the custom notched frame and a step between the wheel wells in the bed for clearance. I've had a bunch of lowered cars in my time and this one drove really well at the height it was at.
I've long since sold it (and the new owner put it on bags), but am looking for another one now.

I think you need to just need to bite the bullet and start playing with your torsion bars. If you have a floor jack and the correct size wrench you could adjust them in 30 min or less. Just make sure you turn both sides the same amount and keep track of how many times you turned it.
