I spent some time after work mixing up some paint to fix one of my Cheyenne 30 emblems and it worked out real good. I mixed 1/4 ounce of red 1/4 ounce of brown and about 1 ounce of yellow to match the color. the scratch was in side the zero about 1/4" square scratch. now its gone.

Nice work! Those LS badges are really gonna look nice. I like the direction you went.

Thanks Chris
I'm trying to save money for painting at this point. The badges cost me $90.00 for the LSX and 5.3L. forget what the Cheyenne 30 cost I think about $80.00. Having some custom ones made would have been a lot more. I should be getting my cab back in about 2 weeks. set up seats steering wheel and master cylinder then find a place to get the paint done.

Dave, we may have already discussed this but I don't remember. What Burban parts do you left? Just wondering if there's anything I might be able to use and could buy from you.
Also, was Cesar helpful at all?

Re: 71 4X4 Frame off Restoration

Mr.D I don't have much of anything left from the 69 burb. I do have the 04 burb but I need my cab back to see what I'm going to use out of it. need to test fit some things. you did mention you wanted the core support from the 04.

Re: 71 4X4 Frame off Restoration

I have not talked to Cesar yet waiting for all my part to come back first.

nice Build!

Re: 71 4X4 Frame off Restoration

I don't think I can use the core support out of the 04. As much as I think it's a cool idea and it might help in some ways, it is dimensionally way different and would require more fab than its worth.
Do you have any inside door handles from a 72 by chance?
Also, would you be interested in helping me weld up a sunroof hole in my suburban's roof for a price? I already know that I will struggle with this task given my limited welding skills. (No hurry).

Re: 71 4X4 Frame off Restoration

I ordered the track bar and related part from Ruff Stuff last week hope to receive the parts end of this week. I was checking out a thread on this site and with cross over steering it was recommended by Ryan to install a track bar to keep the cross over steering from pushing the from end side to side even with leaf springs. So I'm going to install one.

Re: 71 4X4 Frame off Restoration

I received my parts from Ruff Stuff Friday last week. all looked good except for the tubing. they shipped 4 1' pieces in stead of a 4' piece. I called them and the shipped me a 4' piece right away free of charge and received it on Monday. Big thanks to Ruff Stuff for taking care of me. Friday I stopped by my nephews shop to see if we can install transmission #3 in my car. After lunch we found some low profile tires walking by a tire shop for free so I can put my 17" wheel on and get the cab to fit in the garage. With the 17" wheel I can install my brake calipers on the front.

Thank deiselwrencher
We have it installed but my nephew lost one of the U-joint cups and that caused a lot of problems. For some reason this car does not want to be saved from the junk yard. I'm going to keep trying to get it back on the road I can't give up on it.
Hello Scott
I have not done much work on my truck like I would like to but things will change now that I'm working normal work shift and I have my week ends back I will be able to spend more time on the truck.

Sorry for the delayed reply Dave.
I hate when work get's in the way of my hobby!

Good to see you're still making some progress! Albeit slow; progress is progress!

Regarding the sunroof patch, yes, I have a wire feed welder (I'm just not very good with it!) Some weekend day would work best whenever you have time.
I have a tarp over the opening for now.

LMK when you have some time to spare. You have my #.

Many thanks,

I'm working on my car Saturday not sure about sunday. Next week end would be better. your welder is just wire fed or mig with argon/ co2.

Re: 71 4X4 Frame off Restoration

Just wire fed, not Mig.
Next weekend should be fine.

Thanks again

Re: 71 4X4 Frame off Restoration

Well We managed to get my car running barely. I did drive it around the block. it died 3 time by the time I got back to the shop. Then the shifter cable melted to the header and so the issues continue. At least I had a smile on my face as I was driving. Now back to the truck. I picked up my 17" wheels with 40 series tires so the cab should fit on the frame and in the garage. This week end I plan to install my brake calipers and plan for brake lines.

Finally got my low profile tires mounted. The wheels are 17" and my front brake calipers now fit. It's a low rider with 6" lift.

I have been hearing there's a real water shortage there in Ca. Sorry to hear about your car. But, at least a trans works in it now! You forgot to drop your bags on your low rider. Haha

Water shortage big time. We where to have rain today but I could have pissed on the ground and made a bigger puddle. my front lawn is just dirt now even the dead grass blew away.

You can have our water, except it in the form of snow already, we do like to share, even give it away..guess that's why it is called the Great white North.

Not much work done on the truck in the last couple weeks. Stopped by body shop and paid for some bodywork. should be picking up the cab in about 2 weeks.
I did work on 8-3/4" rear end for my car this week end media blasting it getting the 1/2" grime off so I can rebuild it with a locker and disc breaks.

I picked up my cab today an early Christmas present. My nephew stopped by and helped me set it on the frame. Had to pull the bed off then set the cab on then put the bed back on. it just fit in the garage door with 1" to clear. It looks like the T-case shift levers will fit with out any modification. Got lucky there. This is the first time the cab has been on the frame with the running gear installed. Next step fit the seat, 2004 steering column, break and clutch peddles.

Gotta feel good getting the cab on that frame!

Well Congrats!!! Huge milestone. If I remember correctly, it went a lot faster once I started getting body parts back on the frame to finish mock-up.

Keep at it and good luck.
