i'm getting married in 7 weeks and completely remodelling my house while working 60-70 hours per week to get by.

so, yes, you can complete 2 projects in the time it takes me to find time to drop my transmission, replace the slave cylinder fittings, remove the driver's side fenders (inner/outer), finish shaving the firewall, weld in the bracketry for my MC and fab up the pedals :)

(PS - this entire weekend was spent landscaping and hanging cabinets ... fun stuff)

just got back from about a 700mi round trip to get the trucks puter edited...the pics are of killer being loaded ,the new exhaust, P/S lines fabed up,and arriving safely in OKC at Glen (crazy last name) ------------ski:lol: house... these pics are just things being edited in the pcm, like disable VATS, EVAP, rear o2's, speed limiter, shift points, shift firmness, idle speed, etc .........
i thought i would try my hand at dirrecting and make a vid..... and this is really the first attempt....as seen it just cranked a few time and ran.... i still have some tweeking to do before any dyno run, and finish the fuel fill, but all in all the truck is mobile...

So how does she drive now that you got everything hooked up? :D

Do you reset the odometer to zero after something like this? I mean it is pretty much a brand spankin new truck now!

havent taken it for a real test drive, just around the block.... the brand new power booster didnt work... so its like haveing manual brakes, a replacement one is on the way tho....the new speedo (with odometer) from autometer is already set to 0... i need to calibrate it so it'll read accurate, when im going about 5 MPH, it says im going about 100MPH so about 1 trip around the block im already up to 57 mi. on the odometer:lol:

Did you have to trim the bottom of the taillight opening? I tried this exact same thing and could not get it to work without hitting the bottom. Details please...

Re: Killers 5.3L install

here is a list of things... i first made the actual hindge about .25 shorter by removing a section (neon green)...then trimmed the sides to fit inside the light houseing (red).... then added a piece of metal to look symetrical (pink)...then drilled 4 holes to do a plug weld to the light houseing (light green)...there is a bolt that interfeared with the closeing of the hindge that need to be clearenced for so i sloted a section for this (blue)....... then if you look close i had it arranged that the pivot point was higher in this pic then the final version....to lower the pivot point and use the same bracket i made, i simpily flipped the bracket over....

Re: Killers 5.3L install

killer 71,
that is a beautiful truck!!!. i hope i can ask you a few questions though. i am in the process of install a compac genII v.a. ac system in my '72. i am trying to mount my bulkhead fitting on the firewall. 1 question is how did you figured out the hole location in relation to the lines inside (from the unit) & the lines (outside) to the compressor & so forth?? also does your unit have a electronic heater valve, if so where did you mount it? i am trying to figure out if i want it to be in the cab or if it has to be mounted in the engine compartment? i am not sure how to run the htr control valve wires through the f/w without cutting a big hole for the fitting but neding only a small hole for the actuall wires????

thank for any help!! again great looking truck!! (my inspiration..)

yea killer????? he would answer you like this im sure, the bulkhead connection was placed where it is because that was the best lookin spot (IMO).....the lines both inside and out were made to length with the appropriate fittings..... yes this is a all electric system with a electric control valve, the valve is mounted on the pressure side of the system under the dash, for a cleaner engine compartment and nice wire routing ..

68 short step,
i guess i was wrong i thought it was "killers's" project - sorry... in any case i appreciate the time for the answer. i am wondering if by chance you would have a pic of the bulkhead from the cab side so i could see how you did it??? or could tell me what fittings (angle wise & to what) you used & where about you were able to "fit" the hcv inside the cab. i am trying to figure it out but am kinda stuck....

thanks again for your time... rodstored-72

Re: Killers 5.3L install

shortstep,
thanks!!! that does help (pg 13) that is exactly what i wanted to do. i just don't have the fab skills you do. i am wondering if you think that you might have any problems (water leaking - weather related) with a bolt hole(s) located in the cowl area??? i was going to try to mount the hcv just like you did but was (am) wondering about those issues?? any suggs??? also would you be willing to tell me what fittings you ran at the inside cab side of the bulkhead fitting?? and the conn. to the unit?

thanks again for your time!
