Wow, Been a while since I've been on this site.

No problem man. I like the custom trucks and all but I've always been a huge fan of all original, mainly original patina, and especially the 4x4s! I've got a 1/2 ton LWB 2wd and since I can't afford to buy a 4x4 or do a 4x4 swap, and I doubt I'd ever come into a trade like that, I'm wanting to build mine to sit like yours. I'm thinking bigger coil springs with coil spring spacers and bigger tires, we should be atleast pretty close. My dad has always told me when I want something, put a pic of it on my sun visor so I see it and think bout it every day and know what my goal is (and so far its worked so guess he hasn't COMPLETELY lost his mind. lol). Last time he told me that I told him imma print a pic of your truck and put it up there so I know what I want my truck to look like.:metal:

Re: Post pics. Lets see how many 60-66 4x4 are out there.

Well the Cummins swap was just an Idea that popped into my head as I have a spare 12v and NV4500 sittin here but I just might stick that in my old 67.

My other plans are to find a set of stock wheels and hubcaps and put some tall skinnys back on it like the originals. Other than that It might get a rust free set of fenders, some bed wood and thats about it. I like the patina of this old truck too. I kinda wish I never would've primered my 67 as it had an awesome patina back in the day.

Heres a few more pics of my 60.

Its even got Patina on the interior.

And it is suprisingly solid for being a Nebraska truck and having a snoplow on it for part of its life.

Yes, Tony does some great work. It's to bad he is not on here anymore. I tried to buy this truck when he had it for sale. If it wasn't for the bad economy it would have been mine.

I had the same idea with my '63. The PO has already put a looks like Camaro or Nova front cross member and for some stupid reason welded the motor mounts on it, so we figured since it won't be all original or nothing we wanna do something wicked with it and I've always wanted a Dodge Diesel, so we thought bout putting a Cummins in it but them things are freaking expensive! lol

What's your frame look like? I know quite a few people up there that have rusted out frames from the salt on the roads and stuff. Down here where I'm at we have salt in the air (ocean breeze) so our bodies rust out alot faster.

pulltilbroke 03-19-2011 01:22 PM

Re: Post pics. Lets see how many 60-66 4x4 are out there.

My frame is nice and clean(rust free that is). I'll snap a few pics later.

If you want a Cummins you can find em cheap, just gotta keep your eyes and ears open on CL and what not. I paid 1700 for my 90 5 years ago and its been my driver since then it now has over 400,000 on it, The 96 parts truck I bought I paid 1500 for.

Damn thats another nice truck!:metal:
My cousin had a 97 Dodge diesel and that thing would get through any mud hole we ever took it through. For right now we're just gonna throw a 350 in it but I'd like to eventually build a bad ass 283 to put in it and get the original steering column with the 3 on the tree.

Now thats a beautiful ride. Thats basically what I am aiming for on mine, I want it to sit bout that high and those are the tires I want to put on it. Only thing I can't figure out is if I can get them tires on my stock 6 lug steelies... What do you think?

Ol' 'Big Ugly' sure does have some potential....
By looking at your pic's, I can pretty much calculate where to mount that Unity top-mount spot light that I've been hangin' on to....
Still can't decide on top mt. or cowl mt....I have both.
But that big red truck should definitely make us all smile when you two get her dialed in.

Actually, I can't swear that the top-mt is a Unity....But it looks like the one on Big-Ugly.
