I have always ran 5% limo tint on every vehicle I've had in AZ for the last 20 years , but the last two years the cops got a new toy ( a light meter ) and they use it. Every tint shop will do dark windows if you want but you get no receipt ...

Sucks now I have to run legal tint . I'm actually thinking of having my dr write me a script for tinted windows since I'm a red head with a light complexion and burn easily lol

Re: How about some pics of 2WD 2DR Tahoe/Yukons

I ran illegal tint on everything I owned for the better part of a decade. I paid dearly for it with several tickets paid and several re-tint jobs so I could get dismissals. After the last ticket I got about 8 years ago was $185, I gave up. The last I heard from that same local precinct was that a tint ticket was $235 and that was still several years ago. I just can't afford the risk. My '91 is still tinted illegal, but it doesn't come out much. All my drivers are dark, but legal.

If it gets to the point that I'm a cop magnet because of the tint, it will go back to legal.

Re: How about some pics of 2WD 2DR Tahoe/Yukons

I drove mine with 20% for years, and Metro only cited me for it once. Even then, he actually pulled me over for something like 46 in a 40, let me off for the speeding, and wrote a fix-it for the tint. Brentwood has pulled me over for it twice (both times the same officer, and both times as I was pulling into my workplace, lol) but I got warnings both times.

After the old 20% started turning purple, I replaced it with 35% so I wouldn't have to worry about it. But it never caused me too much trouble. Chances are, if it wasn't for the non-matching plate, they'd have left you alone.

Here is a pic of both of my projects/money pits: my 98 and my 70. My Tahoe has 205k, Hotchkis coils, Belltech drop leaf springs (which ride horrible), and 18" Boss 338s. Im currently putting together plans for an LS swap.

Nice Tahoe.

I keep reading those drop leafs ride pretty bad.

Thanks. I don't like them. Ive tried 3 different sets of rear shocks and it is real bouncy with all. Once I get my 70 a little further along and get the LS swap done in the Tahoe, Im going to just flip-kit the rear and redo the front so it's a little lower. Thankfully, I kept my stock leaf springs.

Looks like a pretty clean ride, especially for the mileage! Sucks to hear about the leafs though.

Just curious, have you tried the Belltech Street Performance shocks?

Re: How about some pics of 2WD 2DR Tahoe/Yukons

I actually have Belltech performance shocks on it now. I went from Monroe, to Duestchtech or whatever, to Belltech. The Belltechs are the least bouncy, but they are still super bouncy.

The Tahoe was mom's up until 5 years ago. She kept real good care of it. It wasn't a garage queen, just well cared for.

Cool. Yeah I had Doetsch Tech on my old '93 C-1500. The fronts rode great, but the rears were a little soft. I have the Belltech Street Performance on my Tahoe now, & I had them on my old S-10. If they're still bouncy, I guess it's definitely gonna need a suspension change. They ride pretty nice with my flip kit, but I also have helper bags as well.

Definitely looks like it was well cared for. It can be hard to find older vehicles that were given that kind of attention. I've been lucky to find some of the ones I have over the years.

I like to tease my mom and dad that they care for their cars better than their kids and grandkids. Haha

Ive considered helper bags. But i want it lower, of course, so I'll likely do the flip kit next. I do expect some bounce since it lowered an all, but these springs are too bouncy for me.

Just recently came across the pic of this one, so I figured I'd post it. I haven't given away my secret for the pinstriped graphics I have planned for mine, but this is a bit of a hint ;):

All of those pictures have convinced me that I really need to lower my Tahoe more ASAP!

Not to much of a fan of the phantom grills on these years. I like the stock look better, especially the 96/up GMC

Thanks Bill. I like the phantom in many instances. I ran the '94-98 style on my old '93 in a couple different configurations, with painted grille shell & chrome. However, I had the inserts, so both shells still had the bowtie emblem. The shells pictured above have the shaved bowtie. I found one like that on Craigslist with billet installed at what seems like a great price. Just trying to decide if I should jump on it before it's gone.

Not a fan of the phantom Chevy grill anymore. I want a GMC grill with a billet insert for my Tahoe, though. Ive liked that look since 1996! Haha

That's what I have now. ;) I also switched to that when I sold my phantom inserts for the old '93.

For the price, I was thinking I could get this other grille & switch them out every once in a while to change the look. I think I sold my old phantom inserts for around $175 alone. This guy has the shell & inserts combined for $100.

Said he has a guy coming from far away who already has first dibs on the phantom. Looks like I won't have a chance. He said it's a "true" phantom where the headlights have to be recessed. I know that's how the '88-93 phantoms were as well. That means it wouldn't work for me if I want to keep the GMC grille I have. I think it's a great deal though. He said it originally cost around $600. I'm not sure if that's correct, but I know they were/are pretty pricey pieces.
