Of course another great adventure - a 3 solid days of Daddy/Biz time!

Everything about the mini adventure was great except for one thing.... passing by the cattle stockyards on I-40 in Amarillo, TX. Oh man did that place smell. I seriously wonder how anyone could live or work near there.

Apologies in advance if you live in Amarillo.

I dont know of anyone who has gone by that stretch on I40 by Amarillo and not said this exact thing! Great story and time with your kids is always time well spent!

Oh My Gosh!!! My new Miller plasma cutter is the bomb! I can't believe I went this long without it. Well, actually I can - I tried using a worn out plasma cutter a few years back and assumed they just weren't very good or precise. This new one is amazing. I practiced for about 5 minutes and then started in on my frame rails. I popped them both out in less than 20 minutes. Can you tell I'm thrilled???

Nice new tool and great work! I love the plaz I have. I had issues with it at first but once it got fixed, it has been an awesome tool!

Both of the third frame rails are tacked in! Now for the fun of concocting all the filler pieces top and bottom to tie it all together.

I've been on it all Labor Day - no lake for me.

I hosed the insides or the frame rails with rust proofing paint from Eastwood, made cardboard templates, and cut out the top caps with the plasma.

Tack welded the passenger one on, bending it on the frame rails as a buck as I went along. I was actually standing on the top plate to bend it around.

Hey guys, Biz here - Pops gave me my first welding lesson tonight on a top part of the frame that won't ever be seen. Wait - what are you saying Pops!?!?
It went well with just some simple plug welds - just draw a circle inside the hole about 5 times and its full. Easy!:mmmk:

Saturday night picture time.
Not much to report tonight unfortunately, working on my lower control arms since they hit into my frame. I ended up cutting a relief and angling them to the inside. I'll weld on some overlaid pieces to re-attach and strengthen. Next we will make a mount to attach them to on the frame. They use 1 large bolt and a large circular cup for centering. The cup is actually part of the unibody I chopped off of the Jag.

Just about finished up welding the lower control arms. Tomorrow on to making their frame mounts.
