Years ago I posted that the movie White Line Fever had the truck that started my interest in the 60-66 C10. Just providing long overdue photos.

Wife and I just saw the new Kevin Costner movie "Let Him Go" last week. First time we had been in a movie theater in a long time. Good movie and lots of cool old cars/trucks including this C10 in a couple scenes.

1965 James Bond film Thunderball.
It had the Vulcan aircraft in the movie. I climbed inside one in 75 when they visited us on Midway Island. |
Re: 60-66's in the movies
...waitaminute... whut?
A Vulcan?! On Midway island?! In 1975?? Dude- you are NOT just gonna drop that little tidbit and walk away softly!!! More please? |
Re: 60-66's in the movies
True story. But this is not the thread for that.
But - in 1975 and 76 on Midway Island I was an MB5 driver crew leader and a 1500GPM structural pumper captain. We stood 24 on 24 off and during that time we had 6 hour runway duty and 6 hour pumper duty. One day a British C9 looking aircraft landed and taxi to the hangar area. Shortly after a British Vulcan landed. Well shoot I'm following him in. We drove behind and off to the right of the Vulcan to the hangar area. When they shut down we got out and offered them our "welcome aboard". We got to take an inside tour of the aircraft. Didn't want to see the Vickers (C9). Of course the next day we all imbibed and told story's. They came back again. |

Hmmm.... try this angle?
"So I was in the barracks enjoying the 1975 feature film 'White Line Fever' when I began to notice a degree of excitement outside..." Oh well... no sweat, protocol was never my strong point. I hoist my coffee instead to your many years of dedicated service! |

Re: 60-66's in the movies
Thanks for sharing, Chief! And “Welcome aboard” must be in reference to that unsinkable aircraft carrier? I look forward to sitting on your C10 tailgate some lazy Sunday afternoon, sippin’ cold ones and hearing more detail of your service and crash truck duty. But for now, you are correct, it would be improper to dilute the thread.

I saw a red long bed fleetside in Criminal Minds the other day. It was described as an old poorly maintained pickup truck but it looked awesome to me.

Ghostbusters 2021 features a GMC with a utility bed in a chase scene in the first couple of minutes.
Unfortunately the driver's door gets side swiped by a ghost and then the truck gets rolled in a field. Who you gonna call? . |
