I parted a 71 camper special a while back that had a really nice long bed floor in it. I thought I had it sold to a local guy, but I haven't heard from him in a couple of months and we're getting ready to move back to FL. Soooooo I had a little extra time this evening, ;), and decided to convert it to a short bed. I've got it all cut apart and will weld it all back together when I get back to FL. Then Donkey will have a new a$$....... :D

is that one of those tein multi tools you used to cut it up? i've been looking at one wondering if it would be worth getting to use on cars.

No, it's just $40 jigsaw from Lowes. It worked great though, it took longer to mark the lines than to make the cuts,.

Re: 67 SWB Crewcab....Building the Beast, aka Donkey!

cool. well i've had that same issue. being faster to cut than measure and mark. like they say. measure, measure, measure again then cut.

Jig saws work well with metal blades. Just don't try it with one that has a quick-release blade... they tend to get yanked out. At least that's been my experience.

Nice floor Rob!

Nice floor Rob!

also jigsaw blades are cheaper than cutoff wheels. and have less of a chance to shatter and wind up in the roof of your garage. i got a blade that disintegrated when i was using it. couldn't find it. i did the pat down making sure i didn't get impaled. 2 weeks later my bro was drinking beer went bottoms up and stopped mid drink. asked me "how the hell you did that" pointing to 1/2 the disc stuck in the roof.

Oh, I figured one would be enough. Are we getting another a$$ so the two of them can mate and make a blazer? Possibly a shortbed in the future, longbed? I'm interested.

heck, I know what direction it should go, well up to Kansas of course. Glad to see you guys made it safely, and I am stoked to see you back at the Donkey. Hey Rob, quick question, what were the dimensions you took out to make the floor a short bed? I have a very nice long bed floor to replace the free swb bed I got from Brady (Dieselarmy). Trevor

Thanks for the well wishes Trevor. This is the thread I used for my dimensions:

Rokcrwln also did a write up on this in his Low Buck thread. Hope this helps, let me know if you have any other questions.
