In Lambo..... oh man. All this jive is out of love man. It's fun to think of all the extremes this truck could be. I think it'll be gangster. Either way, if they toss some huge rims on it, you can take em off and get some good money for em.

Here are some pics of all my old trucks 72' Chevy Suburban.

My cameo. Originaly Red with white trim, 265 V8. It is a factory original Cameo not a reproducion. Believe it or not as rough looking as it is I have it running and somewhat driving. Unfortunately the original engine has been replaced. But I do have another 1956 265 v8 to put back into it.

The 1954 suburban. A definate project, but very complete and original.

Of course you have seen my suburban but here is a pic again anyways.

http://i227.photobucket.com/albums/d...n/IMG_1099.jpg

Forgot about this one! Been over at my dads shop, stripped down for too long. A swb 70 with a 396 big block. Not a factory original big block truck.

http://i227.photobucket.com/albums/d..._0362Small.jpg

I also have a 1954 1/2 ton truck that I drive to the cruise nights every Friday, however I don't have any pics of it in my photobucket account. Guess I will post that one for you later.

Wow, somehow I missed the pics that you posted, Harlan! Cool trucks! are you ready to get rid of that Cameo yet?

I have to have some form of 50's fleetside in tee near future. Maybe that is what I'll trade the tricked out burb for after my contractual obligations?

John

I spoke with the station last week and they said it should be done sometime this Summer! I again asked if I could go and see it and they replied with "NO"

Have someone else pose as a customer and sneak in to look around?

Hmmm.... Good Idea! Maybe even take in one of those video cameras hidden in the ballcap things... ;^)

Good plan....if it was my ride I would definitely have someone go and scope it out....

I'm surprised they haven't been keeping updated with pictures...I can only assume they were planning to by the way they started, but realized it was making them look bad with how long it was between updates.....Now they can just unveil it at an event or show when they FINALLY finish it. From a PR standpoint, I would have wanted to finish your Burb and get it out there on the show circuit ASAP while the buzz from the Radio contest was still there. And the sooner you're out there with the Burb on the show circuit, the sooner they're getting their publicity.

They took that page down shortly after the contest. Here are the only pages that are still active:

I was wondering if they had finished her for you. I see in their picture gallery the only thing it shows is your burb stripped to the core. Hopefully it is along way from there. Can't wait that they are making you wait until summer. It would seem that it should only take a couple of weeks to a couple of months to do $10K of work; especially if including new parts.

As far as getting rid of the Cameo I will just say this. I sold my 72 blazer back in December due to bieng layed off. Now I am back to normal financially and am really wanting to get another, sooo if it ever goes on the choping block I will let you know. I feel bad because I haven't worked on it at all since I got it running and that was back in November. Hoping to start working on my cars again and not on house related projects. I guess things have not progressed with acquiring the cameo in your area that the older gentelman owns?

Wow, Harlan, I am sorry to hear about the job loss. This economy really stinks and it hopefully will recover before too long. They have let 160 people go from my employer and I am thankful to at least have 23 years of seniority on my side. Everyone is pretty much just taking a deep breath for right now.

I occasionally see the guy with the Cameo and he just snickers when I offer to buy it or trade my newer Chevy truck for it. I think that he knows he has me and he isn't ready to part with it. I would definitely have to scramble to scrape up the funds if he decides to sell it. If you get to that point, let me know, but I don't want to take advantage of your situation. Hopefully you will get back to work before too long, but I do love your truck!

Yes, the Suburban Project moves slowly forward. Even though I don't get to see it, I have asked the Radio Station to check in on the shop regularly because of this economy. I don't want to find out 4 months after the fact that they went out of business. At this point, I am just glad to hear updates that they are making progress.

Take care,

John, we're still hoping this will turnout for the best. I think I would have to just drop by the shop and see what has truly been done.

Best of luck!

Thanks Nate. Maybe I can get a list member to go in incognito and get some spy photographs? It's a shame that they know what I look like...

John, I am assuming that the guy with the cameo is one of those people that really really really enjoys owning something that someone else wants and the more interest you express the more he wants to keep it. Just a theory, and hey don't we all fix up these old trucks because we have a little of that in us as well.

Looking at those pics of your burb makes me do a double take everytime. It is like we own the exact same suburban. Thinking about it and you propably should have said you wanted to get back all of the original parts from the burb that they weren't going to put back on. I thought of that when I saw a pic of your seats. You have the original seats (in the deluxe cloth no less) which are hard to come by, and I almost bet they are going to toss them and put in modern seats. That will be a shame too because I know there are dozens of guys on this board that could have used them. Maybe you should see if it isn't too lake although I would assume that it is.

I hope that they are saving the parts for me, Harlan. I originally asked them to save any parts that they don't plan to use, and hopefully they will do that. One downside is that they have moved locations and you know that is when things get lost or pitched. Maybe I will try to contact them again in order to see if I can snag the seats. I also had a spare 2nd seat in excellent condition that I picked up at a salvage yard that was sitting in the back. Dumb me was thing that that might need any of the spare parts that I was collecting to fix the truck up and I piled everything in the back. Hmmm....

Thats good that they are suppossed to be keeping the parts for you. Of course with moving and all, like you said things get lost. They also have a tendency when in other peoples posession to get "LOST" as well.

Exactly... They are a custom shop and most likely look at old stock parts as junk anyway. I figured that they were probably not going to keep the stock interior, so I let them know that late model Suburban Interiors (especially leather!) fit these truck pretty well! I was thinking of the lesser evil of that vs. having something velour stitched up!

If I was closer - I would go check it out for you John.

I am curious to hear how this turns out for you and the burb.

I really appreciate the offer. Curiosity is about to kill the cat in me and I am ready to drop in myself. I will probably get my hand slapped *again* if I do.

I will be patient...

That's great! Once you get it back you can do a frame off and redo all the suspension if they don't get to that.

That sounds great. I am sure you are thrilled with the update. It at least shows that your Burb is still on their mind.
