Re: 52 GMC Envoy Burb meld/build
Does the top of the second door follow the front door and arch back to a point too? Or is it rounded and there are triangle infill pieces. Looking like we may be over in April to see it in person. Make that May, got busy at work.

Re: 52 GMC Envoy Burb meld/build
Looking good as always . I've just started working on mine again funny if you let it go to long it gets easier to leave it sit. My question to u is a few pages back you shou pics of you dash you are putting into the truck. how do you plan on finishing the ends. as you know I'm using all the stuff out of the dodge I striped and I have a complete dash out of a darango that is 4 inches to long I thought about cutting it down but dont know if i can glue glass the inside of it and puddy the outside or how i can hide the seam. Let me know your feed back
Thanks |
Re: 52 GMC Envoy Burb meld/build
My dash is also about 4 inches too wide. It is the factory Envoy dash. I plan to take the cover back out, strip the padding off, then fiberglass it all. I will cap the ends and reinstall the a/c heat vents along with that. When that is complete I will paint it one of the body colors.
I just think the old truck should have a shiny, painted dash! |
Re: 52 GMC Envoy Burb meld/build
I agree i like the thought of mixing a touch of new school with the old school.
Plus I like that fat dash look in the Darango with that thin wood grain.I thing it will accent the floor in the back when I get that far. Thanks for the help Beep. I look forward to seeing more of your work when I start getting something done worth while I'll start posting |
Re: 52 GMC Envoy Burb meld/build

Wow!!!

Re: 52 GMC Envoy Burb meld/build
it looks like GM thought that this was a good idea as well.
Check out this video I found on the 2011 Power Tour. I have always liked the stuff that the GM power division comes out with. It looks like this really hauls. Marc |
Re: 52 GMC Envoy Burb meld/build

NEW PIC!!
Shortened a new rear bumper about 10 inches and welded it to the body to form a 'rolled pan'. (couldn't use an original bumper because it is tempered steel) Next it will get a shortened bumper installed about 3/8 of an inch from the new 'pan'. Also 'glued' the fender on the passenger side approximately 5/8 of an inch out from stock to accomodate a wider tire in the rear. These two thing will completely change the appearance from the rear and make it look wider. |
Re: 52 GMC Envoy Burb meld/build
Rear is looking good!
I know someone posted the video, but here are some good pictures showing the parts of that GMPP meld: http://www.hotrod.com/featuredvehicl..._of_suburban/v |

More work done.
The bumper mocked up, there will be a hidden hitch with the license plate covering it. I especially like where the 17 inch wheel sits on the the fender height. It will sit much lower than the GM truck that seems to be as high as the original 53 they used. I believe that is because of the way they widened and radiused the front fenders, but still couldn't get enough clearance--that is the idea that I scrapped before going to the one & half ton "meld" on pages 7 & 8. |

A couple more pics from today. The outside of the 'extra' door is nearly finished-really the whole passenger side is almost done.
The drivers side should be done in a couple days. The gas tank door is where the factory Envoy filler neck comes in . . . Just can't wait til next week when I can post a pic of a new LARGE whole :jdp: (& no, not for the gas tank door) |
