Re: D52 Caliper Rear Disc Brake Brackets
There is not going to be one set of cables that work for all applications. It will depend on what year truck you have and whether is is a shortbed or longbed, Chevy or GMC, etc.

Re: D52 Caliper Rear Disc Brake Brackets
Idid the conversion using these brackets and the brake booster adapter and now I can't figure out what to do about the pushrod.
The one on my 63 isn't long enough and when I adjust it all the way out it doesn't allow the master cylinder to close all the way which causes my brakes to drag and eventually lock up after about 6 miles. Any suggestions? |

I fabbed up several longer rods but when I get the size that works properly it pushes in on the mc slightly which eventually causses the brakes to load up. Iv'e been at it for a week now. I've shed a few tears on this one.. |
Re: D52 Caliper Rear Disc Brake Brackets
Of course the factory pushrod is not long enough. You need to join the factory pushrod with the booster pushrod at the correct length. What booster are you using? What master cylinder are you using? Your pushrod must have some adjustment also.

Re: D52 Caliper Rear Disc Brake Brackets
Yeah you need to adjust your pushrod so that there is *no* force on the booster when the brake pedal is at rest. I like to adjust mine so they are just barely contacting the MC. Also, there might be some adjustment at the booster to MC junction.

Finally managed to go pick up my parts and get these brackets installed, everything looked great and fit pretty much perfect. The outer bracket that bolts to the 4 bolt flange didn't quite clear the little ridge that it centers over, but I'm sure this was mostly due to my rear end being powder coated as well as the brackets being powdered, or slight variation of axle tube as it was only one side. Once I snugged the bolts down she popped right over and sat flush. Worst part about it all is that it probably took longer unpacking all the parts then to install. Well made and looks awesome, thanks Captain!!

They are some nice rotors. Summit sells for 120 each, got them to price match car parts.com for $80. Came with races installed. Nice quality product. |

If this doesn’t get much I will ask in the general area, but got to cleaning up and test fitting my calipers and pads last night, and the A1 eldorado calipers have a solid piston. So my question is, is anyone using the anti rattle clips with the rear parking brake caliper, and if so how did you orientate the clips to work? The clip hits the piston seal with the solid pistons on my calipers as the long end has nowhere to go. Also, does anyone know how the park brake mechanisms works? Is it mechanical to push the piston out or hydraulic with volume displacement? Dry, I have no piston movement while rotating the park brake lever so that’s why I ask.

When done if the lever does nothing after you have driven the truck and the hydraulic brakes work good i then would suspect broken roller clutch assemblies. I've worked on subarus since the 70's and their pistons rolled clockwise inward, and then you would step on the brake pedal and this would push the piston out and eventually give a nice pedal feel, and then the emergency brake lever did it's job. First time i did a brake job i needed help and scratched my head many times trying to figure it out. I resorted to taking a caliper apart and then it all made sense. By the way, these subaru calipers were on the FRONT. |
