Re: Post Your Craigslist Finds
I don't know if the seller of the white longbed stepside is a member, but I asked to see the SPID and if he has verified the date code on the engine, two days ago, and no reply. In the ad it says "ask any questions". Starting to doubt the "originality" on this one. Too bad, if it was an original K10 long step it would be a nice buy. BTW the BIN price has been lowered to $10,400. Still too high if it was a conversion and the motor was swapped tho. I also see a fair bit of overspray on the underhood photo, and no chalk marks on the firewall to check the original model #.

I guess the "4 Wheel Drive" emblem below the side marker light is some kind of reassurance that the truck may have originally been 4WD, but it's just odd that the guy is obviously paying attention to the listing (he's changing the BIN price daily) but won't answer a question or post a SPID. I guess the universe is telling me that I don't need another truck right now.... |

70 C10 swb big block (has a 454 in it, but comes with the removed original big block) $21.5K
Holy COW I'd loved to have seen this gem new.. 70 big block swb, white with GOLD interior. Really like it, but I probably couldn't resist the urge to take it back to completely original. |
Re: Post Your Craigslist Finds
Didn’t 70 big block spids say 396 ?

Re: Post Your Craigslist Finds
I think you will find more 400 SPIDs than 396, at least based on the SPIDs posted here and elsewhere--not sure why.

So here's a thought, I wonder if there is any correlation to what's actually in the truck or if it's just at some point the factory cut over to the new nomenclature. In other words, did a 70 with a 396 get 396 on its SPID and a 70 with a 402 got 400 on its SPID? Or did all the big block trucks at a given plant have 396 listed up until a certain point in time where the plant just started printing 400 instead, regardless of which big block it had. In early 70, could a 396 have been installed and ever labeled a 400 on the SPID...? (or vice versa, a plant change over to the new nomenclature on the SPID while still installing the last few 396s?) Hmm. You'd never really know unless you had an original scenario to dig into. And you might not know even based on a build sheet because the SPID likely matches its nomenclature as 396 or 400; it could have just been a naming convention changeover date at some point. Dunno... Prospective new truck buyers didn't "run the numbers" on the engine block back then, they would just assume the truck had what the SPID said. Now paging Keith, Paging Keith Seymore? :) |

Re: Post Your Craigslist Finds
Regarding post 6533 Old Blue K20. I spoke with the owner, I asked him what the first three letters of the vin were? He said it’s a 72 K20 and I’m not giving out the vin number. He then said that he bought the truck in CA or AZ can’t remember, and he bought it without seeing the vin. He wanted to know why I wanted to know the first three letters, saying that’s not going to tell me anything. Saying I’m in Ca and all the scammer on C/L “ come in person and look at it “ then he basically hung up on me. Good luck with that sale, or maybe not.

Looks like a good price if someone is looking to restore a big block car or truck. https://stockton.craigslist.org/pts/...884806470.html https://images.craigslist.org/00p0p_...m_1200x900.jpg |

3/4 ton goodness....I would start by ridding it of that tired Targetmaster 350 and find me a 5.3...then dip the entire body in a vat and get rid of that pool paint the PO used on it :dohh:

I'll bet the GMC hauled a slide-in camper for much of its existence. I suspect that thingy under the vent window is a level.

Very original, nice condition - note it still retains the 71-only grille perimeter black ring. Personally, I love when these old C20s have the snow tires on the back, looks just like they always did back in snow country when they were new. |
